Jason looked into his glass and rolled his eyes his drink was almost gone by now. He smiled a little and saw James offer his to her. He grabbed it and put the liquid into his sup and handed it to her. "James is trying to cut back on the drinking thing. I'm done for right now but you probably need it more than we do." he laughed abit setting the cup down. Now that he saw that HER date was bringing her, her own cup. Jason looked down and looked at James as he listened to him ask about her date.
He sunk down into his chair and waited. But before anyone could talk Jason stood up. " Um it's been nice chat James and I think you may be right but again you still owe me a few shots so don't forget Friday I'm expecting to get those. Roxy My you are very beautiful tonight more then ever. I do hope that you enjoy your night to the fullest. But I have to go stretch my legs a bit and get the blood moving again. Don't want my legs to fall asleep. James Though your date is busy go dance with one other lucky girl tonight that isn't family. Do wish that the Bixby bloke knows I said hello"
Before Jason could hear anyone object or make him stay he almost ran away from the table. Knowing that very well he'd go to far and start something with Roxy's date. He sighed and messed up his hair once again. He knew he wouldn't be allowed to leave until he gave at least one dance to Roxy. He went and gathered a few sweets and walked around and ate quietly hoping that he might just be able to slip out soon and wouldn't have to look at the girl he liked with another guy.
He set his sweets down and scanned the room for anyone he knew when he heard an all to familiar voice tell him to go and dance. He smiled and shook his head a bit. But was roped into going and dancing anyway.

Roxy smiled at James in thanks for not giving her away. At the mention of their cousin she looked at the dance floor to see Kat and Cooper still dancing, looking back at james she sighed, "James, you're gonna have to just suck it up, appologize like crazy and let her work out her own feelings. It'll be better for you if you let her have her space, but make sure she knows your feelings before you do that, and then let her think on it." she told him truthfully. Looking at Jason she smiled and accepted the refilled drink.
Looking back to James at the mention of Romeo she shrugged, "Just a friend of mine in Gryfindor. He's a nice guy don't worry." she told him, appeasing the over protective cousin in him. Looking over at Jason she was shocked when he abruptly stood up, after spilling out a few words he took off. Roxy wasn't sure if she'd done something to offend him or anything, and she was kind of hurt by him leaving. Looking back to James she tried to see if he knew the reason, "Did I do something?" she asked. Sighing she worried that maybe her conffesion of her feelings for him had freaked jason out and he didn't want to be around her. She didn't remember much from their monthly sleep over, but she did remember telling him she liked him.
As she saw another girl pull Jason out on to the dance floor Roxy could feel her blood boil. Turning back to the table angrily she grabbed the drink infront of her and downed it in one. "You know cuz, Romeo may be a great guy who treats me amazingly, but he isn't the one I want to be here with," she told him truthfully glaring at Jason and the fluuzy girl he was dancing with.

Jason danced but anyone who knew him would be able to tell he wasn't having a fun time and he wanted to be gone. Or with someone else. He watched as the girl started to dance like him and Roxy did. But he gently pushed her away softly and shook his head. He felt eyes on the back of his head. He turned around and although they were what seemed like miles. He met Roxy's eyes.
For a moment he was afraid to look at her. Cause he thought he would see her disapproval of him likeing her. But he couldn't help it he met her eyes. Her eyes showed anger but his showed that he had fallen for her. How he wished he could be the one she was at the dance with. He sighed and closed his eyes again. His smile grew a little and he dissappeared from the dance floor a nice prank he had gotten from her dad.
He wasn't sure how he was going to calmly explain to her that he wanted her to come and dance with him a while. He snuk up behind her as she was telling James that Bixby was a good guy that treated her amazingly. Right then he felt his heart break and no longer wanted to dance or hang around he just walked up to the refreshment table again and poured himself some pumpkin juice.
He looked back at the table and moved under his tux and took out the necklace Roxy had given him and let it sit out in the open. That's when he started turning down every girl that asked him to dance telling them to go and ask James or one of the other guys that were so popular. He just wanted to glare at the guy Roxy was with. Then he wanted to leave. But he promised to stay till the end and now was ready to dual someone.

Roxy couldn't bare watching Jaosn dance with another girl anymore. She truned away and tried desperately to blink away the few tears that had dared to form in the corners of her eyes. Sighing deeply she looked towards the refreshment table to see where Romeo was, but he wasn't there. Playing with her necklace out of habbit, the necklace that Jason has given her when they where little, she looked around the hall for Romeo. And couldn't help but notice that Jason was no where to be seen. After a panick striken moment, thinking he'd gone off with that girl, she found the girl dancing with another guy.
Sighing in reliefe she couldn't help but feel as if someone was watching her. Turning around she saw Jason standing beside the refreshment table sipping a drink. She couldn't tear her gaze away from his no matter how hard she tried. But when she finally did, she lowered her eyes and saw what was sitting outside of his tux, his necklace she'd given him. Looking back up she met his eyes again, she could tell he was angry, actually near boiling point judging from the way he was holding himself.
Throwing caution to the wind she stood up abruptly, she needed to figure this out now, or risk loosing her sanity. "James if Romeo comes by can you tell him I'll be back in a bit." she told her cousin moving around the table. Pushing past a few people that were gathered around she tried to keep an eye on Jason incase he moved. Picking up the side of her hot pink dress she pushed past one final girl, who looked like she was going to go talk to Jason, and finally found herself right infront of him. Looking up at him she tried hard not to look mad or flustered, "Jas, we need to talk, now." she told him grabbing his hand and pulling him to the dance floor.

Jason was getting more irritated with people that asked him questions and wanted to talk and dance. Jason was about to give up and just leave the dance altogether give up on everything. He felt eyes on him but he was getting used to that feeling. He stopped and just looked around listening to pointless conversations. It was his fourth glass of punch in a time span of six minuets. He waited a moment as another girl seemed to have her sights on him.
He set his glass down when he looked up he was met with a very beautiful girl. knowing very well who the eyes belonged to. Honestly they scared him how well she could read him. He couldn't say anything Roxy was pulling him to the dance floor. He looked at her and pulled her so they could dance and not look to awkward. He being taller than her leaned down and could tell she was upset as well.
He put his mouth closer to her ear so she could hear him as he asked. " What is it you need to talk to me about Roxy?" He pulled away from her so he wouldn't be to tempted to kiss her. He couldn't help but stare now that he was so close to her standing up. She was beautiful and just looked amazing. He closed his eyes for a moment hoping to god she didn't ask him about his mood when she was around anymore. He knew that she would probably slap him if he got any closer or told her the truth.
He couldn't tonight he couldn't tell her that he had fallen for her. He stopped and waited for her to tell him what they were going to talk about.

Cooper grinned. 'Well, I wasn't expecting tickets to the matches but, I'll take them. It'll just be our secret, he said with a wink. He intended to go to every match, free tickets or not. Cooper knew that a friendly face in the crowd was always a nice thing to say, especially if you are having a bad game. "Yes, my ministry friends. Hm, they will all be saying what a lucky guy I am for having a beautiful, talented, girlfriend," he joked. Although it may be a small lie now - who knows what the future beholds.
"Turn into?" He questioned, "I already am - according to Lizzie." Coop shrugged, so maybe he was a little too overprotective and overbearing but, he was a family man. Family were one of the most important things in his life. He cared about them more than anything else he could think of. The thought of being so far away from his siblings and being grown-up was an overbearing thought altogether. A thought that he pushed to the back burner. He'd deal with that issue later, along with Lizzie. Coop just hoped that whatever she was doing, she was OK.
Cooper smiled at Katherine, still holding her in that dipped positon. He soaked in the moment. It was absolutely perfect- she was absolutely perfect. With the candle light, and the way Katherine looked. It was the perfect opportunity Cooper would normally take for a kiss. He wanted to kiss her but, reminded himself that they were merely friends - not dating, or on a date, or friends with benefits. They were just best friends. "Well," Coop said after a moment of silence. "It helps when you have an incrediable partner." Still smiling, a gentleman like smile, not his normaly cocky smile, he slowly lifted her upright. It was...well, Katherine couldn't quite emphasize what she was thinking or feeling. She was beyond just happy dancing with Cooper and she didn't even bother trying to think of a time when she didn't have any real worries or things to stress over. It was almost as nothing at all mattered in comparision to the good time she was having with one of her absolute best friends in the whole world. Even though they weren't dancing anymore and she was sure another girl would come along to drag Coop off or take his attention. It didn't exactly bother her because she was used to him being quite the ladies' man but she did feel a little different than she normally would have. Maybe it was just that she didn't quite know what she'd do once he found someone else to keep him company or maybe it was all the teasing about them being together that had her mind a little 'off'. No matter the reason, there was a little something there that hadn't been before...but she would let it go for now.
"Coop, for you, I'd sneak you in to catch a super top secret practice if you wanted," she said with a slight grin, "But, yeh, best to keep it a secret. Can't have everyone trying to get tickets...just my daddy and my charming, influential Minister boyfriend." Kat couldn't help giggling lightly at just how silly it sounded. It was a nice thought but she could just seek Cooper with a stunning wife and a couple of kids...the perfect little tight-knit family. He deserved at least that anyway. Still, though, the idea of there actually being a chance for 'them' made Kat smile but shake her head slightly.
Finally back in a full upright position, Katherine couldn't keep herself from smiling at her dance partner. As bold as it might have seemed, she leaned in and gave him a quick, light kiss on the cheek. "Thanks for that Coop," Kat said, taking a slight step back but still keeping her hand in his, "And you know, overbearing or not, Lizzie and the other ickle ones are lucky to have a big brother like you. You're a great guy, and whether they like it or not, you've always got their backs. Don't ever change, Cooper Weasley...ever." The sincere smile on her face was meant to reinforce just how honest she was being. Kat was tempted to tell him he was perfect just the way he was but then she thought better of it...just for the sake of not making things weird.
A more upbeat song played and Kat noticed that more people were starting to take the dance floor. It was a little strange to think that the whole time she was dancing with Cooper, she hadn't really thought about anyone else in the room unless their names were brought up. Even then, she hadn't really paid much attention to where people were or what they were doing. The only one who she was focused on was her fellow Quidditch captain. "I bet I'm getting death glares from half the female population, aren't I?" she joked after a brief second. Checking over each of her shoulders, she pretended to be a little worried but turned back to face him and say, "Care to get a drink or do you have other priorities to tend to, Minister Weasley?"

Fashionably late. Frank grinned as he loosened his tie. He sighed. He just knew Lilith would hate him. He'd fallen asleep about half an hour before the ball was scheduled to start. He figured he'd have enough time to get dressed and be just late enough to make an interesting entrance. He shrugged. At least Alice will be interested.... He ended up sleeping for an extra hour and a half so he never got a chance to find out what color Lilith was gonna wear. In the end, after thinking of a million different colors she could wear for about another half an hour, he just put on a pinstriped black and white tie; black dress pants and a white button up shirt.
He looked around as he walked down the last flight of stairs. The school was basically deserted. He stood outside the Great Hall and played, nervously, with his peircings before peeking in the door. People were dancing and laughing and having a great time. He pulled his head back out and shook it. "Just walk in there Frank..." He told himself. He shook his head again and walked into the Great Hall. Not noticing the amount of people in there, he looked around at the decorations and smiled. He spotted a few people he knew well. He scanned the hall for Alice and Lilith.... He saw everyone but those two. He saw James Potter, Katherine Finnigan, Evelyn Thomas, Remus-James Black, Jason Pettigrew, Roxy Weasley, Cooper Weasley.... But no Lilith Snape.... or Alice Longbottom. He walked over to James and tapped his shoudler. "Uhhh... Hey James. Have you seen my sister.... or my uhhh.... date?" He said, grinning sheepishly.

"Charming and influential ... " Cooper grinned, "You're making the future me sound better and better." He was in fact determined to be the next Ministry of Magic. Charming and influential to boot. When it came down to it, Coop was actually serious about doing that sort of work, he could be very persuasive at times. Just ask any girl he's taken the time to swoon.
He smiled at her kiss. Sure it was small, light, and on his cheek but, a kiss nonetheless. A kiss from Katherine Finnigan - a girl Cooper Weasley had hidden feelings for. So, this simple kiss was more to him that a simple kiss. He wouldn't share that with her, or anyone else. "You are very welcome, m'lady," he said, adding a slight bow of his head. "Thanks," Cooper said, her words making him feel a great deal better. "I won't change - cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in my eye," he added for a joke. Cooper really appreciated Katherine's constant honesty. It was something you didn't find in many people these days.
Cooper nodded, "Actually, you are." He nodded toward a group of gaping girls behind them. They looked to be fifth or sixth years. He was used to younger audience. Coop flashed them a grin that sent the girls into a fit of giggles. Cooper himself let out a small chuckle at the sight before returning his attention to the girl in front of him. "Priorities? Me? Well, Ms. Finnigan - I don't have any other priorities at the moment - except for maybe one," he replied with a grin - leaving it up to her to guess what he meant.

James nodded slightly at Jason as he walked away from the table, not even thinking twice about how abrupt Jason was being in his leaving."Yeah...shots...Friday...right." James repeated the words his friend spoke to act like he had actually been paying attention. Really, his thoughts were on all Katherine, and each one was making him sick with guilt. He couldn't believe how bad he had mucked things up with her. And everything had been going so well! Finally pulling himself away from his tortuous thoughts, he waved and said good-bye to his friend that was hurrying away from the table.
He turned to his cousin as she started to talk to him, grateful that a girl was actually going to give him advice this time and not one of his guy friends. "I'll do that. Thanks." he said. He made a mental note of everything she said, hoping that her advice would help him. When Roxy spoke again, James looked at her with a sympathetic look. "Um...no. I think that Jas may be a little nervous, is all." he said, careful not to be to reveling about the reason why he was so nervous. James was actually quite surprised when his little cousin told him that she didn't want to be with Romeo but someone else. As he was about to ask who she did want to be with, she told him to tell Romeo she'd be back in a bit, and walked away toward Jason. He grinned inwardly. Good for them.
Spurred on by the sudden action of his cousin, James got an idea to go over and talk to Kat. He downed the rest of his punch that he had had from earlier, in order to get the firewhiskey off of his breath, and stood up. Taking a deep breath, he took a step forward then stopped suddenly when there was a tap on his shoulder.
"Uhhh... Hey James. Have you seen my sister.... or my uhhh.... date?" "Oh, hey Frank. Um, no but if I do I will be sure to tell you. Um, so sorry to do this, mate, but I've got somewhere to go." He nodded his head over in the direction of Kat and Cooper. "I'll see you later, man." And with that, he began making his way over to Kat, going over what he could say to her in his head. With just a few feet separating Kat and James, he stopped and looked at how happy she was with Cooper. The clenching feeling came back into his heart and he had that flash of anger toward his cousin again. However, the way she was smiling and laughing with Cooper saddened James, because it had been a long time before he had seen her that way with him. He hated to make her beautiful smile vanish, which he know it would if he went to talk to her. With his brain screaming, 'NO! YOU IDIOT, GO AND TALK TO HER!' and his heart telling him to leave her be, he turned around and started to walk slowly back to his table.

"The future you? Minus that bit about you being Minister of Magic, I'd say you're already charming and pretty well influential. After all, you're a team captain and you can make girls swoon with just one look," she replied with a wink and a light laugh. As sure as Kat was that he'd make a brill Quidditch player, she was starting to see him being a great Minister the more she thought about it. He was smart and knew how to take control plus he had a natural charm that would work perfectly for keeping international relations. He looked the part and she was sure he'd do a great job of it too.
As he bowed his head and then went on to promise that he wouldn't change, she couldn't help laughing light. It was uncanny just how easily he could make her forget all about the ruddy dress she was stuck in and all of the other things that were on her mind. He was just that type of person though and it certainly explained why he was pretty much her best friend. Pushing him lightly, Kat was sure to say, "You bloody well better not. Might have to do something drastic to you if you even tried." As the words passed through her lips, she couldn't help grinning playfully and nudging him gently. For some reason, she was half tempted to ruffle his hair a little but she didn't just because it might end up poorly.
Checking over her shoulder at the group of girls he'd nodded toward, she almost wanted to stick her tongue out at them childishly but they burst into giggles only seconds later. Her eyes returning to his face, she noticed that he'd grinned at the girls and that was why they were in fits. "Bloody hell Coop!" she laughed, shaking her head in a very amused manner, "What're you tryin' to do? Start a riot?" Katherine laughed a little more and chanced another glance over at the group of girls. Some of them she recognized and others she didn't but, no matter who they were, the younger girls were still giggling and whispering amongst themselves. Just that made Kat roll her eyes. "You know, I'm half tempted to start one myself," she joked after a moment, "What d'you think they'd do if I'd have actually kissed you? Probably be shooting hexes all about the Great Hall tying to kill me, yeh?"
Arching her brows at what he said next, Katherine tried to figure out just what he was on about. The grin made her even more curious and confused. A very questioning tone, she interrogated, "Except maybe one? What are you playing at Weasley?" If it weren't for the fact that she didn't want to pull her hand from his, she'd have crossed her arms as she waited for his answer. Instead, though, she opted nudge him again. Then she caught glimpse of something, or someone rather, out of the corner of her eye. He wasn't too far away and, from the looks of it, he was watching her and Cooper. Maybe he needs to talk to Coop... she thought. Just as the notion crossed her mind, she realized he was walking away. Rather than dwell on it, she nudged Weasley again and said, "Well then?"

Lilith was quiet as she got ready. Her older brother had hurt her more than she would ever admit. She cried silently to herself for a long while before the dance not realizeing how close the dance actually was. She stopped and took a hot shower and started getting dressed. She had a black and blue silk halter dress. She pulled it over her flat figure not saying a word. She tied it behind her neck.
She sat down and put on her make-up and such. She took her hair and waved her wand over it. Pulling her hair up and having some black curls fall down in to her face. SHe leaned over and grabbed her black heels and slid the strap over her foot one by one. SHe knew she was late but she wanted every reason not to trust her brother ever again. Luckily for her she he had made it clear that they weren't going to see much of each other. She shrugged it off as she walked into the corridor right outside of the Great hall.
SHe could see everyone and took a deep breath and walked in scaning the room for anyone she knew.

"Good point," he said thoughtfully. "I guess I am all those things. All I need is to get a beautiful, charming, smart, influential girlfriend, become the Minister, and marry that girlfriend. Then my life will be complete, well toss in a few kiddies too." Cooper grinned at that thought - the process would be rather fun. However, he knew that that was a long way off.
Something drastic?" he questioned with a raised brow. "My dear Katherine, you wont' have to do anything because I won't change. I am who I am and it can't be helped." There was a laugh again. Cooper wondered what was funny, or if she was just doing that laughy thing girls do around him - something he hadn't figured out yet and probably never would. He brushed off that she just laughed because she was having a much better time now than she looked earlier.
"I can't help it if my good looks start a riot. I don't think that I'd start one. I can start fights between girls, pretty soon you'll hear those girls bickering about who I was looking at. It's always the same." He added a dramatic sigh at the end. Cooper pondered on the thought of actually kissing Kat - she did bring it up herself this time. He smirked, "Hexes? No, no. One of those might hit my pretty face. I can't have that." He let out a light chuckle at himself. "If you would have kissed me, they'd probably shoot you looks. If I kissed you, they would do the same but, immediately want to ask you what it was like being kissed by me."
Cooper shrugged, and brushed off her questioning. "Oh, no one - I mean nothing." He didn't exactly want to tell her that she was his top priority at the moment. It might seem a little weird. Cooper just kept his friends close, especially when he wanted to make sure his friends were having fun. "Let's go for a little walk, and get out of this stuffy hall, eh?" he asked, slowly letting go of her hand. He let go, only to loosen his tie - he wasn't much of tie person. After doing so, he grinned, offering Katherine his arm.

"Cooper Weasley with kids? Now that's a scary thought," she teased lightheartedly. Katherine had to admit, though, that she could see him married to some absolutely gorgeous and witty girl with a couple of kids. Probably a Ravenclaw or something but as long as he was happy and his wifey would allow him out to spend time with his friends while he wasn't working, Kat couldn't complain. Well, technically she could considering the whole thought of it all did sound rather nice but she knew perfectly well that Coop deserved the best.
It was better than just 'good to know' that Cooper didn't plan on changing who he was. He'd probably changed a little since the day they'd first met and he'd more than likely change a just a tad more after he was all married with kids and the Minister of Magic but Kat knew he would still always be the same person. Everyone had their faults but that was part of what made each person unique. In fact, Katherine figured his 'faults' probably only made him more perfect in the end anyway. With a short sort of nod, she agreed, "Good job then. Can't have you turning all stuck-up-know-it-all-with-no-time-for-friends on me now."
Kat knew, all too well, about the senseless bickering of girls over which of them a boy had looked at. She'd been victim to it once and she'd heard it all over the castle. Plus, that was just a side effect of hanging around with Cooper Weasley. Girls were always fighting over who he'd looked at, who he'd smiled at or who, if anyone, he liked more. It all seemed pretty pointless to her now but, then again, she was more mature. "Oh no...can't have Coop's pretty little face turned into some putrid green mess with boils and limbs sprouting out of it," she laughed. Just thinking about it was enough to just about put her in a fit of giggles but she managed, somehow, to keep it to a light laugh instead. Arching an eyebrow at the last bit, she noted, "So a win-win situation then." As much as she wanted to jokingly, or maybe not so jokingly, ask what it really was like to be kissed by Cooper Weasley, Katherine decided to let the subject go for now.
"Nothing my arse," she mumbled under her breath, letting him off without further interrogation. As he released her hand and loosened his tie, Kat took a quick look around the Great Hall. She did spot a friend or two but she also noted the presence of people whom she would much rather not be around. "Yeah...a walk sounds brill Coop," she answered of his suggestion, smiling at him and taking his offered arm, "Lead the way Minister Weasley."

"Hm...yes, scary. What's really scary is that they could be boys just like me. I don't think the world needs more of me running around." he said in a panicked voice. He was of course joking, when didn't he? Cooper could indeed see himself in the future, with a woman he adored and more kids than he could count. Even though he wouldn't outright admit it, Coop loved kids and couldn't wait to have his own - or be an Uncle, though that posed to be a hard process.
"Me? Stuck up? No time for friends? Bah, that's just your imagination. I love my friends, and I don't think I'm stuck up - a little egotistical but, not stuck up," he spoke in a gravely serious tone. Cooper was probably the least stuck up person in the world. Plus, his friends and family were really important to him. He displayed that with his deep concern for his sister. He had a soft, sensitive side to say the least. A side he only showed to those he is really close with.
Cooper patted the sides of his face. "No, I can't have that. No, that just would do...it would totally ruin my complexion." He smirked, as he changed his voice to a high pitched girlie voice toward the end. He wouldn't put it past some of those girls to start hexing each other. He was surprised that it hadn't happened yet. "Yeah, I suppose it is a win-win. However, if you ever just want to know - all you have to do is ask," he said smoothly. He was sure that she would never kiss him but, the offer was on the table.
Cooper grinned as he began to walk her out of the Great Hall. "Might I ask you something?" Without really waiting for her reply he continued on. "Is there something going on between you and a certain someone who has been staring at you?" He didn't want to say much earlier but, Coop had noticed he cousin James, looking at them several times. If he discovered that James had feelings for Katherine or vice versa - he would put his own possible intentions aside. Even though Coop knew she didn't like talking about him, there had to be a reason and he wanted to know. He smiled innocently, opening the door for her out into the corridor.
