Katherine couldn't help gigging almost hysterically at how panicked he was sounding about the kids thing. Oddly enough, she could see him being a good father simply because of the way he looked after his siblings and the fact that he was captain of a Quidditch team. It took things like responsibility and caring about the well being of others to be a captain...along with leadership skills and a certain knack for tactics, of course. "I'm just glad I'll be out of Hogwarts by the time your ickle kiddies start," she half teased, nudging him and laughing lightly at the mere thought of a bunch of little Cooper's taking over Hogwarts with silly flirting and jokes. It was an amusing thought but, indeed, a scary one to boot. Would Hogwarts survive with a flock of flirty little spawns of Coop?
"Oh I know you're not a stuck up prat with no time for your friends, Weasley. I was just saying that you'd better not turn into one unless you want me to have to knock some bloody sense into you with a beater's bat," Kat replied, only half joking with him this time. She really didn't want him to ever change into some stuffy Ministry guy that had no time for anyone and took his job entirely too seriously but that was because she thought he was already perfect just the way he was. Maybe she was incredibly biased but he was one of her best friends and always would be. That was pretty much all that mattered anyway. Kat Finnigan was all about friends and family...and, of course, her Quidditch.
As they headed toward the large doors that separated the Great Hall from the Entrance Hall, her mouth fell open and a look of sheer shock graced her face. He'd practically just offered to let her know what it was like to be kissed by him if she just asked. Katherine had no idea how to respond to that. It was an interesting thought and she was finding herself more and more curious about it but she didn't want it to ruin their friendship. She wouldn't ever do the 'friends with benefits' thing but her mind was racing with all sorts of silly ideas. Without even thinking about it, she started to gently bite her bottom lip. This could either be a really good thing or a horribly bad thing...and she couldn't make up her mind which. Parting her lips to say something, she paused and closed her mouth again.
Just as she opened her mouth once more, to say something, he asked her about Potter. He didn't exactly say 'James' or 'Potter' but she had a pretty good idea that it he was the one that Cooper was talking about. Walking through the open doors, she shrugged her shoulders and answered, "Something going on between us? Not a bloody chance Cooper. I thought we were friends and everything, you know...bonding over Quidditch and the like...then the git goes and asks me on a date for his bloody friend. Then...all of a sudden, I'm banned from even talking to Potter, per his own bloody orders. What kind of friend would go and ban someone from talking to them just because she was a complete and total arse? But whatever. I don't need 'friends' that aren't really friends to start with. Sorry about that...I mean, I know he's your cousin and all...but I don't care to play childish games. I know who my real friends are and that's all that matters, right? Now, please, can we just leave that subject alone?"
Scratching the back of her neck gently with the nails from her free hand, she let out a very soft sigh. Something wasn't feeling right. Kat couldn't quite grasp why Cooper kept persisting in his questions about James. Besides that, she couldn't make sense of her own bloody thoughts. It was really bugging her. As strange as it seemed, she almost wanted to start crying. Quidditch was never this confusing. Quidditch made perfect sense and it was something that Katherine was good at. This, though, this whole deal with boys and what they meant but didn't say or said but never meant just did more to confuse her and make her wonder if her father was anything like that. He made sense and Liam, Greg and Tony usually made perfect sense, except when they were overly tired or a little on the tipsy side. Sighing again, she mumbled, "I can't wait until this school year is over."

The day for Miss Alice Longbottom had started out considerably well. She had woken up with a huge smile plastered on her face, excited about the dance that night, and her date. After getting ready in just a pair of jeans and a shirt, she walked down to the Great Hall for an early breakfast with her friends, like always, and then had made it out onto the grounds to enjoy the beautiful day. However, after being outside for a few hours, some Slytherin boys came over to her and started making trouble. They took her book bag and then spilled its contents into the lake. After cursing them good and proper, like she normally did when Slytherins picked on her, she went to retrieve her books from the Lake. It took her about an hour and half to get all of the books and dry them, making her very late for the dance. And she was still in her jeans and shirt!
She had rushed back up to the Gryffindor common room and into her dorm, took the quickest shower of her life, changed in record time, and waved her wand over her hair. When her hair was done, it looked half up, half down and curly. Perfect. She thought with a smile. After applying her make-up, she rushed back out of her room and down to the Great Hall, hoping that her date would not be too upset at the fact that was late.
Finally, she came to the large doors of the Great Hall. People were coming in and out of them periodically she saw- couples were coming out, giggling and kissing, obviously trying to find some place quiet to go, and others were going in, just as late as she was. At least I'm not the only one. Just as she was about to open the door, Katherine Finnigan and Cooper Weasley were making their way out, arm in arm, and looking like they were having a wonderful time. This confused Aly a bit, because she had overheard her older brother talking about how Katherine was supposed to be here with James. Shrugging, she said a small, "Hello." to the two of them and smiled, catching the door behind them to go inside. But before she actually did, she turned to the two of them and asked, "Um, sorry if I'm interrupting, but did either of you happen to see Frank in there? Or Fred, perhaps?"

Jason was getting more irritated with people that asked him questions and wanted to talk and dance. Jason was about to give up and just leave the dance altogether give up on everything. He felt eyes on him but he was getting used to that feeling. He stopped and just looked around listening to pointless conversations. It was his fourth glass of punch in a time span of six minuets. He waited a moment as another girl seemed to have her sights on him. He set his glass down when he looked up he was met with a very beautiful girl. knowing very well who the eyes belonged to. Honestly they scared him how well she could read him. He couldn't say anything Roxy was pulling him to the dance floor. He looked at her and pulled her so they could dance and not look to awkward. He being taller than her leaned down and could tell she was upset as well. He put his mouth closer to her ear so she could hear him as he asked. " What is it you need to talk to me about Roxy?" He pulled away from her so he wouldn't be to tempted to kiss her. He couldn't help but stare now that he was so close to her standing up. She was beautiful and just looked amazing. He closed his eyes for a moment hoping to god she didn't ask him about his mood when she was around anymore. He knew that she would probably slap him if he got any closer or told her the truth. He couldn't tonight he couldn't tell her that he had fallen for her. He stopped and waited for her to tell him what they were going to talk about. Roxy momentarily lost herself when Jason pulled her closer and began dancing. Being this close to him, looking up into his eyes, was begining to thaw her anger. But she snapped back to herself as he asked what she wanted to talk to him about then pulled back a bit. When he closed his eyes momentarily she could feel her anger flare up again What can he not even look at me now? she thought as her eyes flashed.
Pulling him farther onto the dance floor she tried to hide them amongst the crowd in case Romeo should see and get mad. Looking up at him she could almost feel her heart break as she realized just how gorgeouse he looked, "I wnat to know, Mr. Pettigrew, why it is that after my confession last night you are trying to avoid me at all costs it seems." she asked as a few tears gathered in her eyes. Blinky she tried to force them back but a few spilled out, she felt betrayed that he was acting this way after she'd told him she liked him.
She wondered what had happened after her confession, because everything went dark after it. The next thing she remembered was waking up on top of the tower and running for a bathroom. As the music change to a slower one she let her mind briefly flicker back to the last guy she'd shared the dance floor with, her date Romeo. She had no idea where he'd dissapeared to, and honestly right now she didn't really care, her and Jason needed to figure this out.

Jason heard the music change and almost wanted to hit himself the music was slow and now they were hiding from her date. He took her by the waist and didn't smile he just danced a moment. He listened to her and saw her anger and her pain. He looked her strait in the eyes and didn't say anything for a moment. He just looked at her.
" I have no knowledge of any confession you made last night Roxy. But I do know that with my confession last night you make it seem like you don't even care about it. Like it doesn't effect you. ” He looked over at her with some hurt in his eyes but he tried to keep it hidden as best he could. Then he looked around and spotted her Date.
" Roxy I told you that I have fallen for you and now you don't even care. I kissed you lost night but it didn't matter. Now you have a date and it's not me. Forgive me but it hurts a lot to know that those feelings aren't returned. " HE stopped and was about to shoot himself. He looked up again and wanted to ask if she should be dancing with her date but he honestly didn't want to let go. Or have her cry.
He sighed and waited for her to say anything to him and then just knew he had wrecked both of their nights. He leaned down and said. " Want me to leave for the night I understand I never wanted to make you cry Or hurt. But I didn't want to blow up at you or your date because of the feelings that are there. Just didn't seem fair to you."

Roxy freed one of her hands and whiped the few tears that had escaped from her cheeks. Turning her gaze back onto Jason as he spoke she was confused. She didn't remember any confession he'd made, and couldn't believe he didn't remember hers. The anger still smoldering in her eyes melted slightly as she saw the pain in his, no matter how hard he tried to hide it she was always able to read him.
She was about to ask what his confession was when he answered it for her, and her jaw dropped. She hadn't been able to remember a thing from the night previouse, but now with him tellin gher that it all came flooding back. Everything, the kiss, the one she'd gave him back, all of it. As it did she stopped dancing and stood there looking shocked. Then jason leaned down and offered to leave. She looked back up at him frantically, "Jas, how can you not remember that I made the exact same confession to you!! I couldn't remember anything after it untill you just told me that, but it's all come back. I'll tell you again, I've fallen for you Jason Pettigrew." and with that she reached up and kissed him softly on the lips. At that moment she didn't care that she was on a date with another guy. It was something that she needed to do. But she quickly ended it, and thankfully didn't see Romeo any where. Looking up at Jason she started dancing again and waited for Jason to speak.

Jason wanted to stop her tears it wasn't okay for her to cry he wanted to fix it all. Jason knew that she could read him and for the first time he wanted her to see everything. He listened to her and wanted to grab her and hold her tight as he remembered everything that happened. He smiled slightly and felt her lips against his and he kissed her back quickly feeling the same he had last night.
He looked down at her his eyes showing not as much pain. He smiled a little and tightened his grip on her waist a little so it was still gentle he didn't do anything more. He knew she was still on a date. He smiled quietly and danced closer to her. When he leaned down and spoke in her ear. " Wow Roxy really know how to surprise a guy over and over again. But I am glad you like me back. How about we finish this dance and one more but, Then I must sadly and regrettably return you to the guy your here with if we can find him. " He said a little more regret in his voice one thing was now he didn't want to let her go.
He danced with her the way they had always danced the one time he ever had her close enough. Too where it was okay to touch her and look like they were together with out over stepping but now he didn't know if they were officially together now or what she wanted. But he would let her decide what she wanted.

Fred looked around the great hall still levitating above the crowd looking for his date he had worked hard to get his rose to turn colors to the perfect colors for Alice. He had been keeping an eye on his younger sister as well with a guy he didn't know and the Pettigrew boy that had been his little sisters best friend and like a little part of the family to Fred. Always invited him to the burrow but wasn't sure his family would totally except him.
Fred got board of sitting in the air and looked at his little sister as she KISSED him. He smirked 'so much for innocent friends' He thought but he thought it was a good match both were suited and he approved of someone he knew well. A fellow drinking buddy he made a note to ask his little sister later. As for now he walked down onto the floor and to the doors.
Where he was going to give up and just sit outside. Then he saw his amazing Date. He smiled and walked over behind her his hair still off to the side he heard her talking to Kat and Coop. He waved at them too keep their mouths quiet. He took Aly's hand and kissed it. " Most beautiful girl of the night standing before me. I do believe I saw your brother in here also scanning for his date. Ms. Longbottom. This is for you. "
He handed her the rose and smiled he really was amazed at her beauty and the fact that he had actually asked him to be her date. He would keep quiet though. HE waited for her to say something.

Cooper laughed out loud, causing a few people to turn their heads. "Funny, m'dear. My children would probably turn this place upside-down or they'd be good, and smart." In the future, when Cooper did actually settle down and have children, he wanted them all to be smart and most of all well-behaved. He was, for the most part. He was sure there were a few stories that might say otherwise.
He never thought that Katherine would take his kissing offer seriously. But, she had no comment about it. This lead to ideas in his head. Ideas best left in his head and not out in the open. That would just lead to him being beat up by a girl. He couldn't have that with hundreds of people around. That hurt his tough guy reputation.
Cooper chuckled at her response - without meaning it. It was by all means not funny at all. Well, it was to him a little. It was a little strange that a guy would as a friend out for a friend and then afterward not talk to that girl anymore. There was only one good legitimate reason for a guy to do that - because he liked the girl. That made Coop laugh that he cousin was complete idiot about the subject sometimes. He thought of maybe saying something to her about it or just let her figure out on her own. It was completely obvious to Coop now, but he didn't know how long it would take for her to figure it out.
He opened his mouth to say something but, didn't. "Oh, alright. I was just wondering." Later he would hunt down James, whether he had to drag him of bed or not. Cooper was going to have a good long talk with his cousin about girls. Apparently, he was clueless and needed some training and Cooper wonder where he went wrong. Maybe it was because he hadn't taught his cousin and tricks. He made a mental note not to forget to find later.
Upon reaching the entrance door, Cooper opened it for Katherine. "Ladies first," he said with a grin and a slight bow. It was all only to change up her mood. He hadn't expected James to be such a sour subject, which led Coop to wonder if maybe Katherine liked James as well and the two were just too bloody chicken to do anything about it. Cooper made one last scan of the room for Lizzie. There was no sign of her. He shook his head, not hurt that she didn't show but, slightly disappointed at himself.

Katherine could honestly see Cooper's kids, a couple of miniature versions of him, pretty much owning the Quidditch pitch and getting top marks at school. Now that she put a little more thought into it, she could actually imagine visiting Hogwarts to catch his kids play and, if they were anywhere near as good as their daddy, perhaps scouting for her team. If nothing else, she would at least be able to show up as a family friend...or she hoped anyway. That was, of course, if Cooper's future wife allowed them to still be friends and let Kat visit with the kids without conflict.
Frowning a little, Kat did her best to write off his light chuckling about whatever he found amusing. She just didn't want to talk about anything involving Potter, Black or even Evie. The 'incident' had ruined at least two good days of practice and left her with an annoyed feeling. It wasn't worth dwelling on things like that. Kat had moved on and didn't plan on letting stupid, childish stuff get to her. Quidditch. That was all that she wanted to worry about now. That was, at least, all she intended to let get her worked up or worried. Things like whether she'd actually make a professional team after the school year and whether Hufflepuff would win the house cup...or their next match. She always expected her team to win but that didn't necessarily mean they would. Sometimes the other team might get lucky and their seeker would have an easy catch of the snitch just because of convenience.
Walking through the open door, she gave him a nod of appreciation and continued through it. Katherine was feeling less cheerful than she'd been while dancing with Coop but it was mostly due to having more things on her mind. She wasn't bored or bothered but she found her mind wandering to all sorts of things. The most important of which happened to be sport. Nine times out of ten, that was what Katherine Finnigan was thinking about anyway but she had more reason to think about Quidditch now as the year was progressing and she'd soon enough be available to play professionally...if a team signed her. Who needed to bother worrying over boys and silly, immature things when her future was there to think about?
"So...got plans for the holiday?" she asked almost randomly. It was the best possible way for her to change the subject and try thinking about something else so she wasn't so entirely preoccupied with the future. Kat had her holiday mostly planned out but she hadn't really thought a lot about it until recently. That was also probably an effect of how quick time was passing. The dance was in November so that meant Christmas break was right around the corner. It would be December before she could even really think about it thoroughly.

A gust of cold wind came through the great doors of the entrance hall as a cozy looking couple made their way out of them. With a shiver, Aly covered her arms and looked around, noticing that Katherine and Cooper must not have heard her. Must be to caught up with each other. The two of them brought a smile to Aly's girlish face. She loved to see people having a good time. Speaking of a good time, she was having an awful hard time spotting her date from outside of the Great Hall and was beginning to think it was time to go inside.
Before she could even turn around to face the doors, her hand was grabbed by a much larger and warmer one. She turned around to see the gorgeous, red-haired, freckled face Fred Weasley holding her hand and giving it a kiss. With a slight blush, she said to him, "And the most handsome boy of the night is standing before me." She giggled slightly and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "And okay. I'll have to go and talk to him to tell him I'm here."
A wide smile was already etched upon Alice's face, but when he handed her a beautiful rose, the smile grew. "Oh, Mr. Weasley. How did you know that my favorite flower was a rose?" She raised her eyebrows playfully and held the rose close.

But she figured she'd just screwed that theory up with that kiss, but oh well.
"And I'm glad that we've finally told each other this when we were at least half sober! Now hopefully we'll remember it!" she told him grinning. Turning with the beats of the music she had to admit she didn't want to go find Romeo at this point. She hadn't seen him in a while anyways. But she knew she would eventually have to have a talk with him and let him know she still really cared about him, but it was only as a friend. She hoped he would understand on some level.
"Or we could just keep dancing untill we see him." she said shrugging her shoulders. She really wasn't sure what all of this was gonna mean for her and Jason. Obviously they both liked each other but were they dating now? From her limited expereience the guy was suposed to ask the girl. The other question was how was her darling brother and older cousins gonna take this. James might be ok with it seeing as Jason was one of his best friends, but the rest may pose more of a problem.
Sighing Roxy decided not to worry about it right now, they'd cross that bridge when they got there. Leaning her head onto Jasons shoulder she let him take the lead completely as she just enjoyed the music and being this close to him.

Cooper lingered at the door for a moment. He knew he wouldn't have missed Lizzie at all. He could pick her out of a crowd blind-folded. Coop sighed again, feeling like he failed although he knew he didn't. The last dance for his little sister wasn't one he wanted her to keep remembering. That stupid git, he was just lucky that Cooper let him off easy - but, then snogged with the girl the boy left Lizzie for. That had been his little piece of revenge for his sister's broken heart. Normally, Cooper won't go around stealing girlfriends from other people. That wasn't right, he only did it the one time, to piss off that boy.
Without another moment's thought, Cooper closed the door behind him, rejoining Katherine. He caught the tail end of her question as he took her hand in his arm again. It took him a moment to piece together exactly what she had asked. "Oh, I don't know. I figure I'll take a few weeks off and then go for a Ministry job. I don't care what really, just along as I'm in." He actually already had the job applications in his possession but, he was just too nervous to fill them out properly. One application was for an actually internship which required several letters of recommendation and an essay. Cooper had the essay done, and was working on getting the other letters - the rest he was just nervous. There was the possibility that it could be rejected or he'd get past over. Cooper couldn't handle that sort of disappointment.
"Actually, I already have an application for a Ministry internship," he mention off-hand. Cooper wondered what she might say. He thought she'd give him a good whack and tell him to get a move on and send it in. This was a dream, a dream for him that very much could be a reality. He had the motivation and the encouragement but, still couldn't get the nerve to send the darn thing in.

Jason smiled as her head laid on his shoulder. Her couldn't help but feel like this was how it was supposed to be. He took the lead and gently dance across the dance floor. He didn't know if anyone was going to be happy about the fact but he leaned closer to her ear and whispered quietly. " Roxy will you want to I dunno maybe consider being my girlfriend? I mean you can certainly take your time and think about it. But I don't ever plan of forgetting what has happened tonight."
He smiled lightly and wrapped his arms around her waist. People started to stop dancing and look but it didn't seem to bother either of them. He looked down at the girl that he finally was able to hold close so that he could feel her breath. He closed his eyes and just danced for a moment. Jason knew that James was okay with him liking Roxy. What Jason was unsure about was her older brother or even the rest of her cousins.
This was by far the most dramatic emotional day that Jason had ever had in his life. Going from happy to pissed to hatred to amazingly content and happy. Having Roxy in his arms again he leaned down and said to her. " I never did tell you how amazing you look tonight. I was actually suprised you didn't come over sooner for a drink I know how you hate wearing high heels. Though they do make you almost as tall as me." He gave her a smile he hadn't smiled in a long time. He looked down at her as she began to speak.
AS their eyes met once again he couldn't help but get the same feeling he had gotten around her for five years. But for the first time it made him smile. He then started to comprehend what Roxy was saying.

Not entirely surprised that Cooper paused for one more check, most likely for his elusive younger sister, Katherine waited patiently for him. He seemed a bit depressed again that Lizzie hadn't shown up. Naturally, she did what she could to push her own feelings and thoughts aside for the sake of a friend. It just seemed a little strange that they'd both managed to go from worried, upset or depressed to having a great time and now back to pretty much where they'd started. At least that was how it seemed to Kat. Nonetheless, for the sake of appearances and her friend's well-being, she would do what she could to help him feel a little better rather than letting on the fact that her mind was a bit preoccupied again.
Letting him place her hand on his arm again, Kat listened as he went on about what he intended for summer holiday. It hadn't been exactly what she asked but close enough, she figured. Nodding thoughtfully, she replied, "You should probably care a little about which job you get since some don't have much room for advancement. If you get stuck in one of those, good luck ever making Minister." She expected that he'd already had a position or two that he'd already hand picked but was merely saying he'd take anything so that he didn't sound overly eager or entirely nerdy. He wasn't but she assumed he didn't want to sound that way either.
"Oye! Cooper Andrew Weasley! I knew you'd already had a position picked out and probably got all the stuff done for it too, aye?" she said in as lighthearted a tone as she could muster, "Why haven't you already submitted it Weasley? Thought you'd've had that done ages ago." Giving him a good nudge, she shook her head in a semi-amused manner. After a little thought, she suggested, "You know, maybe you can go and turn the blasted thing in, in person, over winter holiday. If I haven't left yet, I'll even go with ya. How's that sound?"
The way Katherine looked at it, he, at the very least, had a little control over his future...more than she did over hers anyway. So it made little sense that he hadn't already sent in his application for the position that could make or break his chances at being the next Minister of Magic. She knew he was more than capable of the job and she had a pretty good feeling that he knew he'd be brilliant at it as well...so she couldn't see what was holding him up. Nudging him again, she offered a light sort of smile just for added encouragement.

It took Cooper a few minutes to realize Katherine had meant over the winter holiday but, he shrugged hit off. His mind had been in too many places at the time anyway. No, winter holiday he planned to be lazy, and spend some quality time with his parents, Lizzie, and his other two siblings. He really didn't do much on holidays except sleep in and walk around in his pajamas all day long.
"I haven't submitted them because..." he trailed off. There were two, well three, people he could truly be completely honest with about his inner emotions and thoughts. Katherine happened to be one of those people. "Well, quite frankly, I'm nervous. Every time I go to fill out the papers, my hands get all sweaty. I can't hold the bloody quill good enough." Cooper spoke in the most serious tone, to let Katherine know he was being serious.
Cooper smiled at her nudges and smile. "You'd go with me?" he asked. He wasn't surprised at his offer but, it seemed like an opportunity to make his advance. That was of course, after he'd made sure there were no feelings of hers for James or vice versa. Coop grinned at the thought, and indeed thought handing the application in, in person, was much better then owling it over.
