It was a warm Saturday afternoon...or was it Sunday? Katherine Finnigan had just come down from the owlery to send her mum a much needed letter and now she was free for the rest of the day. It had seemed like ages since the last time she actually sent post home. With the busy school year and everything else that was going on in her life, she hardly had time to send letters home quite as frequently as her mother usually required. Maybe that was why she couldn't quite figure out exactly which day it was. The only thing that mattered was the fact that there were no classes today and she'd taken care of everything that needed to be taken care of.
As Katherine reached the Entrance Hall, she paused a second to think. Did she really want to go back to the Hufflepuff common room? There really wasn't much to do inside and she'd already had her personal Quidditch practice for the day. Then it hit her! Taking a little fly around the school didn't count as practice and it would be something to do. If she recalled correctly, the Ravenclaws had been practicing on the pitch when she last looked but that didn't mean she couldn't fly elsewhere. Pulling her wand out, she very carefully did a summoning charm. It took a few moments but, eventually, her broom came floating up the staircase from the lower parts of the castle and landed in her free hand. Perfect. Just as she turned toward the exit, she paused to think of something else.

Scorpius hated the weekends well really he hated everyday of the week.He would usually go to sleep for the weekend as there where no lessons.Today he was tired for once.So he just walked around Hogwarts. Then he decided to go and fly around Hogwarts, apart from his looks he also took good flying for his father but that is about all he took from his father. He was walking on to the quidditch pitch when he saw Lucinda's friend Katherine Finnigan. He walked straight past her and hoped that she didn't recognise him as they didn't really see eye to eye

The thought passing, Katherine shrugged and started out toward the pitch. A little fly around wasn't going to be much work so she didn't have to do additional warming up. That didn't mean she couldn't take off jogging out of the castle before she started out flying. The warm sun felt pretty good on her face but there was no reason to stop just to bask in the sunlight. Pausing once more, she looked up at the clear sky and tested the air. There was a very slight breeze coming out of the north, if she was correct, and the sun was just passed its full rise and headed down the other way. There were plenty of hours left in the day.
As she switched the hand her broom was in, Kat caught a glimpse of someone walking passed her. It wasn't too uncommon for something like that to happen but said person was pretty familiar. Turning her head to get a better look, she recognized exactly who it was: Scorpius Malfoy. She didn't ever really talk to him but his younger sister Lucinda was one of Kat's best friends. He looked sort of like he was going to do a bit of flying as well but she didn't know whether asking if he wanted company was a good idea or not. Again, since she was having a pretty good day, she shrugged and figured 'what the hell.'
"Hey! Hey Malfoy?" she called, jogging to catch back up to him, "D'you want some company flying?" Kat waited a second, almost preparing herself to be hexed into oblivion. She'd heard rumours about him and she knew all about the Malfoy parents but that didn't mean she was going to start making assumptions about people. If he hexed her, he did. If he didn't, and actually opted to talk to her, then he did. Either way, she'd already talked to him so it was all a matter of waiting for reactions.

Scorpius was walking towards the pitch when he heard a name called out and not any name his last name which could only mean Katherine Finnigan as she was the only one that called him by his last name.
He stopped to hear what she had said "Hey! Hey Malfoy?D'you want some company flying?" Well he didn't really want to be flying with a hufflepuff but what the hell.It didn't really matter as he was in an ok mood from what happening yesterday.
"Well. Finnigan. It's your lucky day. If you want you can come."He thought that he sounded a bit rude but what else would you expect from him. Manners?"How come you're talking to me? I thought you didn't like me."He had his hand in his pocket holding his wand just in case she tried to pull any stunts.

As he stopped, Kat stopped as well. She didn't want to push her luck by invading the personal space of a Slytherin that she'd heard some pretty harsh things about. It wouldn't be very smart of her to end up hexed just for getting too close. Still, though, she gave him the benefit of a doubt; keeping one hand on her broom and the other hanging loosely at her side. Katherine was a little shocked, though, when he hadn't even pulled his wand on her or made some sort of harsh comment with a rude name to boot.
Kat couldn't help grinning a little when he actually granted her permission to come along. His answer wasn't the nicest, most polite one in the world but she wasn't really expecting it to be. The biggest thing about it was that he'd actually said she could cme along if she wanted to...AND hadn't called her any mean names. The more she thought about it, the bigger her grin started to grow. "Thanks for that," replied Katherine, her tone not sarcastic but not dripping with sweetness either
"Who said I didn't like you Malfoy? I know I never said that," she said after a moment. Maybe Lucinda had mentioned their discussion to him and he assumed she didn't like him? Frowning a little, she shook her head and switched which hand was holding her broom. After thinking about it a second longer, she shrugged and added, "Never said I didn't like you...just didn't think we had much in common really. Flying and Quidditch excluded, of course. Thought we could bond over sport or something..."

He started to walk on and then replied to what Katherine said Who said I didn't like you Malfoy? I know I never said that "Finnigan. I'm a Malfoy and a Slytherin. You're a Hufflepuff.I wouldn't really say that we would like each other."
He stopped and thought for a second."Well apart from Luci, who is a bit weird. He loved to be nasty to Luci behind he back and to her face. For some reason he was talking to a Hufflepuff and he hadn't hexed them. It might have been because she was Lucinda's friend but he justed passed it off as he was having an off day.
He dropped his broom which Katherine nearly tripped up on."Watch it that broom costs more then you."He started to smirk."Oh my bad."He said in a very sarcastic voice then burst into laughter. He picked up his broom which had dust on it.
He wouldn't say he was a clean freak but he didn't like his stuff dirty or broken. He would hurt the person that touched let alone broke his stuff.Just like when he had a fight with the muggle at a shops in the muggle town near to his home.

Katherine rolled her eyes at what he had to say. For a Hufflepuff, she had no qualms with talking to anyone from any house and actually getting along with them. She didn't judge people based off their surnames or house...but, evidently, some people did. Nonetheless, she merely shrugged it off and replied, "Luce is awesome...way different from anyone else I know but that just makes her way cooler. Your sister Rosa's pretty cool too...very witty, that one."
As she walked along, she wondered exactly what had provoked her to actually talk to Scorpius Malfoy in the first place. She'd been warned, by more than one person, that he was a great big prat and was just like his father...which, evidently, was a very bad thing. Still, though, she thought she'd give him a chance to prove otherwise. After all, everyone deserves a fair chance, right?
A little lost in thought, Kat hadn't been expecting him to drop his broom but she very nearly tripped on it. Luckily enough, she had fairly decent balance and good reaction time. The comment, though, from Malfoy caused her to scowl. Katherine wasn't the sort to start fights or get into them at all really, that was more something that a Gryffindor or another Slytherin might do, so she merely rolled her eyes and continued to walk. If he was going to be a prat then that was on him...not her.

He watched as Katherine rolled her eyes at him and wondered what made her talk to him. He walked in silence for a few minutes as he thought about himself and how he was supposed to be like his father. He thought about how he was nothing like his father, apart from his fathers looks. However Scorpius was the better looking one.
He wondered what Katherine thought about it all.” So Katherine. What do you think of me?” He waited for a reply. He thought that might have sounded wrong."Well what I mean is do you think I am like my father.Like everyone else thinks."

As they continued to walk along in complete silence, Katherine couldn't help but wonder if this was going to result in her getting jinxed. She wasn't worried about what others might say if they caught her talking to a Slytherin like Scorpius Malfoy. That wasn't to say that he wouldn't hex her or one of his friends wouldn't do it if they happened to see Malfoy talking to a Hufflepuff. As much as Kat didn't fancy the idea of getting hexed or cursed, she was quite curious why Scorpius had agreed to flying with her in the first place if all he wanted to do was say and do mean things.
His question, though, caught her entirely off guard. Scrunching her nose, she had to actually think a moment or two on what he'd asked before she could even open her mouth to speak. "Do I think you're like your father? Well, I've been told you are and warned about ever even talking to you because you're a great prat just like the man who raised you...but seeing as I've never met your father and I barely know you, I can't well say you are, right? So...to answer your question, not really."
Shrugging a little, she wondered if that was the answer he was looking for or if he would have preferred to be known as the exact image of his father. Either way, she was honest. Then it hit her. He'd actually used her first name. Yes, a late reaction but she hadn't realized it until after she'd finally answered. A half smile on her face, she quietly added, "I'd like to think that you're your own man, Scorpius."

When Scorpius heard Katherine say I'd like to think that you're your own man, Scorpius he smiled and then blushed which was very unusual for him.He hoped Katherine didn't see him blush.
"I bet your wondering why you are still walking and haven't been hexed yet."He said in a sarcastic way. He didn't like to beat around the bush about things like dueling. He loved it and was quite good at it.

Kat thought a little more on what she'd said and gave an approving nod. She didn't like telling lies or people who considered themselves professionals in the field of telling them. Sometimes the truth could get people into trouble but it was always better to tell the truth. Still though, she wondered why he had asked what she thought. Did it really matter to him whether she thought he was an arrogant, rude prat just like she was told Mister Malfoy, his father, was? She didn't...but she still had plenty of time to get to know him before being able to say anything really.
Glancing over at him out of the corner of her eye, she replied, "Yeah...that thought did cross my mind a couple of times. It's nothing against you specifically but I've had a fair few incidents involving me being hexed by Slytherins...so, naturally, it's a good thing to wonder, right?" Again with the truth. Mentally, Katherine slapped herself for coming out and giving details. A simple 'yes' or 'no' answer would have sufficed but she had to be the overly friendly Hufflepuff and tell him other things as well. Shaking off the thought, she asked, "So, why don't you answer it for me Scorpius? Why haven't I been hexed yet? You know...just to get rid of the curiosity right now."

"So, why don't you answer it for me Scorpius? Why haven't I been hexed yet? You know...just to get rid of the curiosity right now." "I' don't really know. I suppose I'm in a good mood so I'm not going to hurt you today anyway/"He laughed and then said."Joking. I'm only joking." He looked at Katherine and said."Even though you are Lucinda's friend your an alright person.".What did he just say that... There had to be something wrong with him today.

Not entirely surprised by his humour, Katherine did let out a very light laugh before saying, "For today anyway...thank for that Malfoy. Thanks loads." Shaking her head in amusement, she couldn't help thinking that maybe Scorpius Malfoy could be a pretty decent bloke. He at least had some sort of sense of humour and he wasn't a total prat like a lot of guys she knew of. Maybe, just maybe, everyone had been entirely wrong about him. Kat thought so anyway.
"Oh? I'm an alright person, eh? Well, if it means anything, Scorpius, you're a pretty alright bloke too...so far anyway," replied Kat with a slight grin. She didn't want to overstep her bounds but, oddly enough, she felt comfortable enough around him to give Malfoy a light nudge just to show that she was joking about the 'so far' part. Kat had a tendency to do that sort of thing with family, friends and people she was comfortable around so it just came natural for her to do it at a time like this...even if she didn't know how Scorpius would take it.

They both laughed as they walked towards the pitch when Katherine nudge him so he nudge her back.Usually he would have hexed someone for nudging him even if one of his friends had done that they would have be hexed by now.But she was different.
"So how is your family."There must have been something in the air for him to be so nice to her and everyone. He was acting really weird today for some reason but what was it.

It was a little surprising that Scorpius actually nudged her back rather than moving further away or hexing her into oblivion but it was nice. Even if today was a rare event and they never talked ever again, she was glad that they were actually getting along for now and he was being a genuinely nice guy. Somehow, she had a feeling that the rumours and warnings hadn't been true anyway but he was just proving how unique he really was. He was capable of being his own man rather than trying to be someone else. This little revelation only made her smile a bit broader.
"My family? Well, I suppose same as always really...mere anarchy and chaos rule supreme," she joked, letting out a soft laugh, "Really, though, my dad's doing brill and my mum's a right pain...as always. Titch is still a little manipulative brat too...but I wouldn't trade them for all the tea in China. How about yours? How's your family?"
Glancing away from the pitch and the pathway they were taking to get there, she chanced another look up at Scorpius. She wasn't quite as tall as Malfoy but even so, she wasn't really intimidated by him either. Kat was the sort that didn't let people intimidate her...and that was what tended to get her hexed, she supposed. It wasn't so much that she was cocky or made it a point to start trouble. It was more that she didn't let people intimidate her and push her, or her friends, around. Nonetheless, she watched his face a moment or two as she waited for his response.
