Lilith listened to her brother taking in his every word. Her headache was coming back and she took out a potion she had made for the head achs. She um crocked it and drank it. She cocked the vile and smiled at her brother. He knew how good she was at potions. She thought about all the things and agreed that she was going to agree to her brother’s suggestion. She jumped up and hugged her older brother. " Ah Blair you always watch out for me and help me the most."
She held him in a tight hug like when they were kids. She held her brother for a few minuets and rolled her eyes playfully as she pulled away. " Blair Snape. I better see you at that dance coming up. You don't have to bring a date or anything if you really are against it, which I know you are. But I am going I might even have a date. But I want to dance with my brother too; it's been a tradition forever. That I share a dance with my big brother and you know it. So you can't buck it cause I wont let you, you just have to show up for one dance."
She smiled and gave her brother the fake 'pouting' look that always got her brothers and her father. She loved being daddy's little girl and her brothers' best girl. She thought about it now and smiled as she realized that the three men in her life were always there and would do anything for her. That gave her some comfort. She knew she probably struck a nerve with Blair telling him that she might have a date. What was worse was that he would probably make her tell him who the guy was.
She backed up onto the windowsill again and quickly tried to find something else to talk about which came to mind the third Snape child. She bit her lip a second and asked. " So um have you seen Ellis around lately he seems to avoid me a lot which I mean is okay. But I mean he is the total opposite of us and I do worry about that boy. He is getting to be what mum and dad want him to be which is never all that good."
She knew he wasn't going to let her off that easy but she would hope.

It wasn't too surprising that Lilith had a vial of something in her pocket. Blair knew that she was brilliant in potions just like every Snape was. In fact, even their deceased grandmother was near enough a professional in the subject of potion-making. The think that worried him was what she was taking and why. He wanted to interrogate her about it but found that he couldn't because she had already jumped up from her seat and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. This only caused him to smile again and place his arms around her waist as he'd done before. Just as with earlier, Blair closed his eyes and soaked in the feeling of his sister as she hugged him and he returned it affectionately.
As she pulled away, he hesitantly allowed his arms to fall loosely at his sides. Sighing softly, he shook his head and replied, "Lilith, love, I'm not going to the dance. I have no reason to attend and there are plenty of other things I can do with my evening that bother with the masses. First of all, no girl has nor will ask. Secondly, I'd rather spend the time working on my studies while my dorm is actually quiet." Blair shook his head again to reinforce everything he'd just said. There was no way in Merlin's name that he was going to attend that dance. He felt a little bad for his sister but he simply could not go. Then the second part of what she'd said finally registered.
A date! His little Lilith might have a DATE for the snowball?! Automatically, Blair's eyes narrowed and his already thin lips went completely straight. It was a girls ask boys dance so it meant she'd have already asked a boy and said boy agreed to take her. Blair would have to find out who this boy was and then interrogate him until the boy was either too afraid to take Lilith or, at least, knew not to toy with the Ravenclaw girl. Either way, the eldest Snape had every intention of protecting his sister...at all costs.
"Lilith, tell me, who is this boy that you've asked?" he interrogated, completely ignoring the question about Ellis. Their younger brother really wasn't much like either of them but he did know how to take care of himself. The youngest Snape, the only Slytherin of the three, was perfectly capable for looking after himself so Blair rarely worried about the boy. Lilith, on the other hand, had his full attention...especially now that he knew she planned on going to the dance with a boy. Unable to refrain from asking more, he questioned, "Which house is he in and which year? Have I met him? Is it that boy you were walking with earlier?"

Lilith had tried everything she possibly could to change the subject. She Knew that her brother would find out anyway which only made her more worried that he would flip on her. She closed her eyes and opened them and met her brothers. " Blair you can't scare him okay? Please don't I really kind of think he is really cool to hang out with. He is a 7th year and I know you don't approve but he is in your house. Those helps a bit I mean I know you don't like any guy but he seems to care. I mean we can't tell dad. But his name is Frank. Frank Longbottom. But before you start wanting to rip his guts out like I know you do so don’t say you doesn’t. I like him a lot just give him a chance."
Lilith knew that when she wasn't around Blair was going to grill the guy up and down and just does everything in his mind to either make him so afraid that he leaves or he approves. She played with her fingers and looked up at her brother with her soft eyes and said, " If it helps any he thinks you are a pretty cool guy."
She smiled, as she already knew her brother was a cool guy and no body would get her to change her opinion of that. She looked down and bit her lip as she thought about a very weird conversation between Blair and Frank. Though at the same time she knew her brother wouldn't rat on her. She was worried he might not approve of Frank. Which would hurt her in a way.
She loved her brother and wouldn't let anything get in the way of that. But at the same time she was growing up and did want to be able to go on a date without worrying that her brother was going to be watching everything that happened. She knew Blair wasn't like that but she knew that he would do anything to keep her happy. She didn't want her brother to get hurt even if she did. But she wouldn't ever tell him that. He started to talk to her, which made her focus her attention.

A sick, gut-wrenching feeling overtook Blair. He absolutely loathed the idea of a boy taking his beloved Lilith away; and a seventh year Gryffindor no less. Being that he was constantly forced to overhear discussions betwixt Gryffindor boys, Blair was immensely apprehensive about letting his sister anywhere near one. Most Gryffindor boys were cocky, self-obsessed prats that played with girls like they were a game of wizards chess. A little bit of strategy, a few smooth moves, win the game and then leave the poor girls to sulk while they moved on to some new interest. Blair would not allow anyone to do such a thing to his little Lil. The only way to prevent it was to blow the pieces into oblivion. After all, who could play a game without the pieces?
Narrowing his eyes further, Blair plotted and schemed how to get this Longbottom boy to back off. If murder were legal, Blair might have done it countless times to protect his sister from the evils of the world. In essence, it would make him a hypocrite but that mattered little to him just as long as she was safe and content. As violent immages drifted through his cold and calculating mind, Blair was stripped from his thoughts by Lilith's soft voice saying that the Longbottom bloke had though he, the misunderstood and reclusive Blair Snape, was a 'pretty cool guy.' Once more, Blair made a displeased face. Tactics. That was all it was.
"Why a Gryffindor? Why not a Hufflepuff or even one of your fellow Ravenclaws?" asked Blair almost desperately. Though Blair hated the idea of his sister with any boy, Slytherins would surely take advantage of her and Gryffindors weren't much better. Oh how he loathed and detested the arrogant prats that thought themselves God's gift to the females of the species! The sick feeling in the depths of his stomach seemed to spread, causing his face to go paler than normal. Pushing the feeling to the back of his mind, Blair tried to fathom why his sister would take a fancy to some boy two years older than her and in a completely different house. It made no sense at all and, in fact, made him trust this Gryffindor boy even less.

Lilith smiled at her older brother as she finished talking. But than she saw his plotting face and she knew he didn't want her with a guy. In fact what was worse was that she knew that he was going to try and wreck what ever was going on between her and Frank. She breathed in and out quietly for a few seconds as she though of ways she could tell her brother that it was okay. But she couldn't come up with any.
She listened to her brother and couldn't help but roll her deep brown eyes. She put her hands on his shoulders and told him straight up. " Blair. Ravenclaws well most of us our safe quiet individuals. Nothing wrong with that I love my house mates. Hufflepuff's are awsome friends but again. They stay with what is safe most of the time. Slytherins well a lot of them are just to self-absorbed for me. But you know that I can't turn down an adventure. You know that I can't stay in the castle and walk around it's corridors. When the grounds hold so much promise for adventure. Gryffindor's do they have adventures when they can't do something they do it anyway. You know if I could I would be out there flying from the ends of the earth. I like people who share the same concepts as myself. You know I have a ton of friends in your house and the guys though most of them are cocky and play with girls there are a few that do have hearts as big as yours. Frank does like the adventure just as much as I do. You know that if Dad weren't on us about our school marks all the time you would be out having adventures as well. After all I learned it all from you."
She smiled at her brother and knew that in his heart he knew that what she said was true. She looked down though she knew that her brother was just trying to keep her from being hurt. Then the idea popped into her head. " But my plotting big brother. If I am hurt and if I am broken hearted. You can pumble the kid into the ground. But Blair you know that you will always be my older brother. The only guy I will ever feel safest with."
Lilith smiled because she knew that she might just get through to him. She hoped that she would be able to. She bit her bottom lip and looked down but then her dark eyes moved up to look at her brother's face to see what he was feeling or even thinking. Anything to show that she had gotten through to him to give Frank a chance. She than stopped looking at him and listened as he began to talk to her.

Blair Snape listened as his younger sister tried to explain to him why she should be allowed to see the Gryffindor boy. The stomach turning feeling he'd experienced earlier remained but he fought back the urge to simply walk away. There was no getting through to her. She was already enthralled by her date for the snow ball and nothing Blair said could prevent her from going with the boy. Thrusting his hands into his pockets, the eldest Snape looked passed his sister into the otherwise empty corridor. The only thing that could keep his mind from wandering to places it shouldn't was to focus on something aside from his sister and her date.
"You're wrong, Lilith. I used to be that type but I am no longer. I've matured and realize that there is no use in looking for adventure. Everything in life has a reason and a purpose. Marks in school are only a small item in comparison to the use of all the knowledge that's behind them. What good will silly adventures do in your future?" he reasoned out to the Ravenclaw girl standing before him, knowing perfectly well that he was going to make something of himself. He still had time to plan out what he would do once school was finished but he was sure that adventures would prove useless.
A sudden thought hit Blair like a ton of bricks. Though Lilith had told him, countless times, that he would always be her older brother and the one whom she trusted most, perhaps she was merely saying it to get him to leave the subject alone. If she wanted him to back off then he would have to. If she wanted happiness through pain, strife and disappointment then there was nothing that he could say to prevent it. If it was what she wanted then he would leave her to her business. Albeit, he would do it with a broken heart and against all logic but he would do it nonetheless. It was, after all, her life and her choice to do with it what she will. As his mind raced through these thoughts, his thin lips formed a frown and his eyes went void of all emotion. It wasn't the way it should be but he would not argue further.
With an almost nonexistent shrug, the Snape boy coolly stated, "I hope that you have a lovely time at the dance Lilith." The words out, he let his dark eyes fall away from her and turned. He hesitated a second or two before taking a few steps back the way they'd come. His shoes made a light sound against the floor as he walked but none of that mattered. His mind was miles and hours away. The only thing he could possibly think of to put himself at ease was his lovely, perfect Ravenclaw. His head was intentionally flooded with her angelic smile and the sound of her soft, heavenly voice.

Lilith watched her brother and couldn't help but have her eyes burn as she felt those tears come back. She was now remembering why she would keep to herself and work hard to be nothing like her brothers or her parents. She breathed hard and tried not to cry in public. It was okay if she had a thing for a different house as long as she didn't like a gryffindor. She breathed quietly.
She hopped down from her windowsill. She ran in front of her brother and said. " You know I do plan on having a good time at the dance and I will think about how my BIG brother didn't want me to go with a guy that will be at least a great friend. But then again what do us Snape's do after all? WE put on an act just like our father. NO matter who it hurts." She looked up at him with her deep brown eyes. But didn't step back.
" I guess that is why I will say this. Blair I love you as my brother. I know that you aren't like our dad. But you sure can act like him. Blair you forget that thanks to you I'm a wiz at all this magic. But I also learned from you when to be a cold person. You’re the only person I have ever been able to talk to in our family. After this year I probably wont see you. I don't want you to stop that relation of us cause I wanted to go to a dance with a fellow gryffindor. I'm a ravenclaw a strong willed one at that. I wouldn't have said yes if I knew I'd get extremely hurt. "
Her dark eyes became glazed over showing just how upset and how hurt she was by Blair just leaving. She gave him one last hug and stepped aside so he could leave now. " I've said what I have needed to say. It kind of hurts to know my big brother is angry. But I will learn to deal with it like I always have... I love adventure and it makes more time to have fun and learn from actual mistakes. I know they seem pointless but make time out of what I have left. I do hope that you can see where I am coming from. As I remember a younger you that was in love with going on adventures." She sighed and held back the tears as best she could.
