Fireside Chat [Gabriel]

.Continued from 'A Late Night Chat' in the North Tower.

Evelyn watched as Gabriel made the Room of Requirements open to them. She smiled when the door appeared. "If you really want to learn French.... I guess I can teach you. But only a few things. Say it in English. I'll translate in French." She walked over to the door and opened it. She peeked in, laughed then turned to Gabriel and opened the door wider. "After you Mr. Lestrange." She said politely.

"Thanks." Gabriel said and walked in slowly, as soon as he was in he grabbed Evie's wrist and gently pulled her in. "This place is pretty nice but I wish it had a couch that didn't look so tacky." Gabriel said and pointed to the couch in front of the fireplace, to his odd surprise the couch did change. Instead of the earlier couch it was a leather one that was jet black. "That's a lot better." Gabriel said releasing Evie's wrist and sitting down.

"I'll have to get back to you on the French, I don't know what exactly I want to learn how to say in French." Gabriel said with a laugh.

Evie walked in with Gabriel and gasped slightly as his request was filled. She smiled as she walked over to the couch and sat down on the opppsite side. She stared into the fire then sighed softly. She turned to Gabriel. "I can teach you anything French. I have a fully French side of my family and I went to school in France for 10 years of my life." She smiled a little at him then looked back towards the fire. For some odd reason, everytime she was in front of a fireplace she stared into the fire and all her thoughts spilled out. She'd just realized how stupid it was for her to agree to the fireside chat with Gabriel. She sighed again and continued to stare into the fire.

"How was it, being in France. My mom is always talking about how great it is so I kinda imagined it as a completely morbid area but since you went there I could be wrong." Gabriel said with a smile, he was curios about her years in France. He looked at her as she stared into the fire. "Is something troubling you?" Gabriel asked sincerely, he had a knack for knowing when people had something on their mind.

Evie smiled. "France was... Well.... amazing." She laughed a little. "The best years of my life were in France. You should really visit it sometime...." She looked from the fire to Gabriel. "No... Im fine. Its just that whenever Im in front of a fireplace... I get lost in my thoughts." She laughed and shook her head slightly. "And thats my problem... I think too much... And all that thinking is what hands me all my problems."

"I might try to but I'll make sure to go when my mother is most occupied or I'll be learning all the bad things about France that make it oh so wonderful." Gabriel said sarcastically giving a mocking imitation of his mother. He laughed shortly after, the picture of his mothers scowl after hearing that was all he could see. "I could help you with that, I'm usual so caught up in the moment that I never really have any time to think. I'm a live in the moment and worry about the future when it comes kinda person. It's fun but it has a few draw backs." Gabriel admitted.

Evie laughed a little as Gabriel moked his mother. "Well that must mean she has a good side if she thinks France is great." She thought for a while. "I dont think I know of any bad areas of France... Its all so... great to me..." She sighed. "And how does that work? I mean... the whole... "living in the moment" thing? I just... cant see myself being so... uhmmm... carefree..." She said smiling sheepishly.

"We'll pretty much it means enjoy the time you have don't worry about what is to come. Let yourself focus on the moment and only the moment, that's what I did back at lake and I'm not worried about what might happen as a result. I just hope no one gets hurt but I don't care as long as your happy. That's what being care free is pretty much or at least the best way I can explain it." Gabriel said and smiled warmly to her.

".... I just hope no one gets hurt...."

Her smile dropped and she looked back into the fire. She really really hoped no one would get hurt... She thought about her and Gabriel together then thought of her and Remus together.... and she suddenly felt like crying.

Its too confusing!! I wish he hadnt kissed me! I wish I hadnt kissed him... Damnit! She thought angrily to herself. Then she realized that she shouldnt be in there with Gabriel. She felt that Gabriel deserved somebody that wouldnt make him wait forever.... and Remus deserved somebody just as fast paced as himself. Evie felt her eyes water up but she took a deep breathe and held her tears back. She looked over at Gabriel. "You.... Would you hate me if I said I shouldnt be here.....?" She asked softly, her voice shakey.

"No I would think that you figured out who you wanted and chose who you would be happiest with, which is all that matters to me. I just want you to be happy, that's all that's important to me so if you feel that way I have no problem with you going." Gabriel said and gave her a reassuring smile.

Gabriel looked into her eyes as if looking for something. "I'm sorry that I kissed you back at the lake, I knew it would have some bad consequences like you being so confused. I really shouldn't have done it." Gabriel said and frowned, he felt bad for doing what he had done.

Evie shook her head frantically. "No! Thats not what... No Gabriel. I didnt choose anybody... I just... I dont think I deserve to be... well.... with you." She said softly. "I feel like you need somebody that wont keep you waiting forever... You deserve so much more..." She said, her eyes watering up. "Im sorry Gabriel. Really. I am. And you shouldnt be." She sighed and then hugged him tight. "I relly do like you... alot Gabriel. Dont doubt that." She said smiling softly.

"You don't think you deserve me?" Gabriel asked a very questioning look on his face, he just couldn't comprehend the thought of someone not deserving him, he had thought of it the other way around. "What do you mean you don't deserve me and I should have a girl who won't make me wait for ever?" Gabriel asked giving her an awkward look. "Your not making me wait, I'm chosing to wait because your worth it. Even if in the end you go for Remus it would have still been worth the time we spent together, so don't think that your making me wait," Gabriel said shaking his head from side to side, "as for you not deserving me. That's, That's just crazy. If any thing I don't deserve you." Gabriel said point blank.

Gabriel hugged Evie back tightly and smiled at her statement. "I like you a lot to Evie and everything will work out like it should." Gabriel said trying to make her feel better.

Evie shook her head again. "I dont deserve you Gabriel. Seriously... You should have a girl that will care for you... and love you like no other." She smiled a little more. She put her hand up and touched his cheek lightly then leaned in and brushed his lips lightly with her own. "You deserve so much more than me Gabriel... and thanks... for everything. You are the most kind hearted guy ever." She said looking into his eyes. "But Gabriel... If you find somebody else to go for.... I want you to go for it... and I swear to help you to get her. I just dont know where I want to be right now..."

"No what I deserve is a girl who doesn't doubt herself and I thought that was you but I guess I was wrong about you. I thought you were somebody who didn't doubt themselves, someone who had some faith in themselves, and was a strong person in general. Those were the qualities that attracted me to you but I guess I misjudged you if your saying your not good enough for some one." Gabriel whispered, it seemed angry but it was actually disappointed tone it held.

"I don't want any one else, I want you." Gabriel said quickly and kissed her some what forcefully. He wasn't sure why he did this again but it was the only thing he could think of.

Evie watched as he talked then when he kissed her, she just sat there, almost staring at him for a moment. She moved back to her previous seat and sighed really softly. She rested her head in her hand and looked back into the fire. She closed her eyes and rested her head back on the couch.

Maybe... Maybe I should just get up and leave... I mean... He said... He just said he deserves a girl that doesnt doubt herself.... and obviously... Im just... Not that girl....

She opened her eyes and glanced over at him then slightly shook her head and closed her eyes again.

She opened her eyes and slipped out of the couch and onto the floor. She moved closer to the fire, pulled her knees up to her chest and rested her chin on her knees.
