Never Trust a Pretty Face
"Perhaps you could argue it wasn't my fault?" The man said with a shiver, his eyes flicking up from the ground. There was a hiss from the fire, as if someone was angry. And it was the truth, the hiss causing a shiver to go through the broken mans heart as he stared into the cool flames. "Not your fault?" Came a snide remark from the face that was slowly being licked by the orange glow. "I told you to kidnap the children not kill them. You where suppose to kill them later." Another hiss that sounded more like a snake then ever. Gleaming eyes staring into those of a broken man's. "Once again Goyle you have proved to this enter organization that you are useless. That you have no purpose here. You are a coward." The man breathed in angerly, the fire rising to show the man's fury. "Such a simple task I have given you, and yet somehow you manage to screw it up AGAIN." "Please my lord, I did nothing wrong, the kids attacked me. They wouldn't come and then things got out of hand." "SILENCE. I won't hear another word of this nonsense. You bring five more children to me or I'll kill you myself, do you understand?" "Y-yes my lord." "Good."
In late June five bodies where found, youngsters. All thrown up against the shrieking shack, all dead. Who these children were no one knew. They where Muggles, all of a different race. And all killed by magic. The wizarding community, at peace for over twenty years now suddenly went crazy. Who could have done this to these children? And who could be cruel enough to kill five innocent children. Responsibility was thrown around like wild fire, no one knew who these kids were. And no one knew who's responsibility it was to find out.
Harry Potter stepped up to the plate, although in his fifties he was still in the peak of his game. Concerned for the wizarding world that he had worked so hard to create in his youth. He didn't exactly know where to began. But he was worried something was going on, over the years many death eater like raids had shown up. Many people had disappeared. No the world was not as peaceful as many people would think. And Harry being one of the most powerful wizards in History was only one of the few to know about it.
But people saw differently, the Malfoys had always been suspected for the raids. Draco and his gang just like in school. Many didn't believe it, after all Draco seemed innocent, a nice guy some would say. Reformed. But he was not all that people made him out to be. He was indeed angry. He was indeed mad. And he was going to get Harry fucking Potter back. Even if the man had saved his damn life. For years he went to people's doors. For years he and his wife worked to rebuild the Death Eaters. And they did, Draco was more determined then ever to get Harry back. And no fucking Potter was going to live. For a couple years they remained silent, hidden. Slowly taking down the enemy one by one. They needed to make it look less suspicious. As if the deaths where normal. As if the odd disappearance wasn't going to change anything.
Letters began to reach Harry, warning and threats. Mainly about how long he was going to live, and how his family was going next. Harry was determined to find the killers, to take who ever the hell it was down. He started the Order again. Against the Minister of Magic's command. But not before more deaths could happen. Not before more disappearances and threats came his way. Not until something really bad happened.
For months nothing happened. Silence. No letters were sent to the Potter family. No one was kidnapped. It was as if nothing had happened in the first place. As if there was nothing to talk about. The school year started again. Slowly at first, half the kids couldn't even really remember the events that had happened over the summer. Some parents were not so sure about sending their kids back to Hogwarts. But most of them managed to worm their way back into the halls of Hogwarts. The first years were welcomed with open arms. Sorted and class started as usual. It was as if nothing had ever happened.
But that wasn't the point, the whole point of killing those kids was to scare the wizarding community. Oh sure there had been other goals behind it. But no one was going to be picky. Especially not the death eaters. Goyle had tried to forget it as much as possible, and he was doing a wonderful job at it. Considering almost the entire wizarding community had forgotten about it. Malfoy was not pleased, not pleased at all.
And so he came up with an idea, Goyle had a new task. A punishment perhaps for his earlier mistake. Malfoy didn't really care what happened. As long as the Wizarding world was once again reminded about what had happened last summer. He told Goyle to go to Hogwarts and kill a student. Any student, it didn't matter. No matter if it be one of Goyles own children or just some random mudblood. Who cared who died! All that mattered was that the death eaters regain some control. Goyle still being the loyal servant to Malfoy did as he was told.
During late October Rachel Abercombie was unlucky enough to be kicked out of class because she had been talking during a test. It was her first year and she had become rather upset about it. Instead of going back to her dorm she decided to go do some exploring. The girls in her grade had been talking about going into the Forbidden forest later that week. And she decided to get a look before hand. It seemed to her like a smart move to make. The forest looked perfectly normal that day, nothing to scare an elven year old girl off.
Her body wasn't found for two days. The girls that had talked about going into the forest later that week did go. But they saw something no one would ever want to see. Only a quarter of a kilometer in and they found her. Lying up against a tree. Dead, nothing to show what had done this to her. They ran screaming from the forest, found a teacher as fast as possible and demanded help. Which the teachers gave, scared that these kids were telling the truth. That inside the forbidden forest a child lay there. Dead.
The Ministry was there in half an hour. Her body taken away, all evidence hidden. The Headmaster at the school was threatened to keep it quiet. Not to scare the students. But no one could keep this quiet.
DEATH AT HOGWARTS!
The title read in dark letters, grasping the attention of the entire wizarding world as the Daily Prophet landed on their breakfast tables. No one could believe it. Why would anyone kill someone so young? Someone so innocent. It seemed impossible. It seemed like a joke. The only thing was, no one was laughing...
