The Trio are in their 5th year of Hogwarts, and have just discovered the existance of the organization The Order of the Phoenix. Hermione, in attempt to help Harry sneak into McGonagall's Office and search her drawers for something that would perhaps help them in their fight against the Dark Lord, came across the Time Turner which she so long ago used to get from class to class. She picks it up and has an idea that perhaps that it can help Harry and the Order. She rushes out with it and meets her friends in the schoolyard, without realizing that she has turned the dial numerous times on her way down and as she holds it in her hand showing Harry and Ron, they watch in horror as the Time Turner spins backwards, and Hermione disapears from the current time.
Hermione falls in the Marauders Era, right at the moment where James Potter and friends are hanging Severus Snape in midair. She stumbles backwards into Sirius Black , knocking off his footing, causing Severus to fall from midair and on top of the Time Turner. Luckily Hermione appeared outside of the crowd, and appeared without anyone seeing her. Despite this stroke of luck, Hermione is still stuck in the generation of Harry's parents, and with no way of getting back, seeing as asking for another time turner is out of the question.
Hermione, by falling into the time this way, has distrupted the balance of things. Being in the same year of the Marauders, she attends school with them, at the same time trying to figure out a way to go back to her rightful time. However, this is not the only thing that is a new problem, James Potter seems to show a certain liking for Hermione, endangering the existance of Harry Potter, her best friend. Sirius Black likes Lily Evans, whom he has liked for a while but held back his feelings because if James, Peter has secretly joined the group called the Death Eaters, Remus Lupin is starting to like one of Sirius' past conquests, and so it goes on.
