After the professor lit his cigarette and offered her the lighter, Madison looked around the courtyard carefully and blinked a few times. She was double checking to make sure that there was no one else wandering about in the rain early that morning. When she felt that the coast was clear, she took the lighter in her hand and lit her own cigarette, inhaling as she did so. She held his lighter back out to him and exhaled the smoke through her mouth. She felt a sudden amount of relief wash over her body and was glad that the professor had offered her a cigarette and then a light. She didn’t smoke a lot or even that often, but when she did it was usually out of stress or anger.
She puffed on her cigarette a few times, allowing a silence to fall between them. She liked smoking in silence, unless she was in good company. This professor was good company, but she had just wanted a few moments of silence. She cleared her throat after a moment and looked at the lit tip of her cigarette. It had been a while since she had had one. It was hard for her to sneak moments to be able to smoke at home. Thankfully no one really cared at Hogwarts, and the students were big tattle tales like those around her household.
"I don't plan to come back," Madison said honestly. She really didn't want to come back to Hogwarts. It wasn’t that she didn't like the old castle, but she found that she didn't want to work there or have much of anything to do with the school, at least until she had children of her own, if she had children of her own. With a sigh, she took another puff from her cigarette and let her mind wander for a moment or two. She could only imagine her aunt's face if she saw her niece puffing away at a cigarette with a man that, Madison assumed, she hated. "I love Hogwarts, but I want to do bigger, better things with my life. It's nothing personal as far as I'm concerned with the castle. It's just me." She shrugged her shoulders and looked around the grounds once again. She would miss the place once she left, but she wouldn't miss it all the same. She sighed and looked down at the ground.
The professor asked what she would do if she worked at the Ministry. Madison looked at him with a strange sort of expression, one that asked whether or not he was sane. She was not planning on working at the Ministry as long as her aunt was there. Nosireebob. "Uhm…" she scoffed. She finished up her cigarette and pushed the tip against the nearby tree to put it out. She then dropped it on the ground and smashed it into the grass so that it wasn't visible. She then looked at him. "I don't know what I would do, to be honest. I don't know what I want to do with my life right now."
