[Rosie] Don't Kill Me!

Rosie knew the second Lily had joined her, but pretended to be oblivious for a few minutes. She quickly asked the librarian how she could help, and was told to go shelve the books in the romance section. Perfect, Rosie thought. I can sneak a glance at the novels and see if there is anything I would like to read there without Lily noticing a thing. The librarian just knows me to well. When she noticed a smirk appear on the librarian's face, Rosie was even more confident that she had gotten that job on that day on purpose.

"'Must be something in the air that makes me go all loony,' eh, Lil? Look who is talking. I may spend too much time in the library, but you clearly need to avoid the Rumor Wall more. Just as you do not have feelings for Scorpius, I definitely do not for Frank. Maybe you should believe me, and then I will believe you."

Shrugging, Rose pushed a cart of recently returned books along the shelves until she reached her destination. She placed the individual novels into their spots, and continued on down the row. Every now and then, she bent over and scanned a summary.

"Yes, Lil. I realize one cannot plan out their whole life, but one can decide if they want relationships. Yes, I comprehend that plans always change, but right now, I could honestly care less about any sort of romance. I just want to use these years to learn and grow in knowledge first."

Liar! Rosie screamed to herself. You are such a liar! She had definitely fallen for Frank Alexzander Longbottom II, and she did not see any point in trying to convince herself otherwise anymore. She would, of course, continue to deny it to Lily, but sooner or later, Rosie would have to come clean. Her only thinking of snogging him again would only make matters worse.

Lily tried her best to pay attention as Rose conversed with the library. She had such a short attention span sometimes, she just had to force herself to pay attention. Lily made it through - to about the point were "romance" came up. She gave a disgusted look. How can anyone read those? Well, that was a bit hypocritical - Lily had sneaked a few reads. That was something she wasn't going to tell.

"Fine," Lily groaned in defeat. "Neither of us have feelings for either of them." She sighed, and leaned against the bookshelf opposite Rose. Lily shook her head. Accepting defeat didn't meant only that Rose had won this battle but, not the war. She was going to keep pressing the subject of Frank Longbottom until she got the confession she wanted.

Sighing again, Lily grabbed a random book. She glanced at the title but, didn't read it. She began flipping through the pages. "You know Rose, you need to lighten up. Life isn't all about books and homework, and learning. You can learn from other people - like in relationships." Her resistance to carry on the conversation lasted only a few short moments. They were in the romance section, so naturally she just had too. "You can a lot about yourself just by being with other people - outside the family," she continued on, "You cant' do that being shut up in the library all day with your nose in books."

Finally, Rosie thought with a smile. It was about time. She knew Lil would bring the topic back up sooner or later, but hoping it was later, she decided to change the subject entirely. She was sick and tired of hearing about Lil's realization of her feelings for Frank, and she was just irritated with the conversation overall. She must have been having more of a pity party that evening than she had had in her sixteen years of existence, and that was just lame.

"Good. Glad we got that settled. I really do not want to fight with you, Lil. And with you continuing on about that, it was almost inevitable."

And yet, there Lil went, repeating what seemed to be the family mantra. 'Lighten up, lighten up...' Rosie had heard it so often that she had begun despising the phrase. But, nonetheless, she knew that they were most likely right. Weasleys, Potters, Delacours, Thomases and the like were not usually wrong. But, still. "Lil, please, no mentioning that. You know I have heard it enough to last me a lifetime."

Yes, it was true that Rose spent most of her time in the library. And it was certainly her second home. But what Lil always seemed to forget was that she did other things as well. "Lil, you know I do not spend all my time reading. How else would I fit in campaigning and flying?"

Even though she had flown not too long ago, Rosie had a longing to do so again. Hopefully Lil would soon move on elsewhere so she could.
