The weekend had finally come and James was on his way to meet Teddy like the letter had told him to. He had no idea what it was that Ted wanted to talk to him about but he was curious to find out. Seeing as how this wasn't a Hogsmeade weekend, James had to use the shortcut into Honeydukes that he had discovered on the map a few years back.
He was already halfway through the passageway, taking his time because he knew that there was no real reason to rush. Finally, he came up to the door that led to basement. He opened it slightly and looked inside to make sure no one was there. James, being the lucky kid he was, realized that no one was there and he swiftly moved out of the door. He made his way up to the shop and slipped into the huge crowd inside.
With his hands in his pocket, he began to make his way to the Three Broomsticks. He made it there in record time, which was odd because he didn't rush at all. He just figured it was because the streets weren't as crowded as usual. He opened the door and walked inside, only to find that Ted wasn't there yet. Waving to the barmaid, he walked over to her and ordered a firewhiskey with a wink, but got turned down so settled for a butterbeer. Then he waited for Ted at a table he found.

Teddy walked in just a moment later, and copied James' movements. Walking to the table with the fire whiskey, he smirked at him. Offering it to him, he grinned. "I won't tell Vic if you don't, squirt" Sitting down, he looked around, before speaking softly to him. "So, I uh.. I asked you to meet me here because I... I proposed to Vic this week... and I want you to be my best man" He knew Victorie wanted to tell most people, but James was like his younger brother, so he wanted him to know from him.

James grinned as he saw Ted walking towards him with an extra firewhiskey. "Why would I tell Vic? And deal." he asked with a smirk while choosing to disregard Ted's nickname for him. He never liked it, seeing as how he figured that he was nothing even close to a squirt. Of course, he always had a nickname to reciprocate when Ted called him this, but he figured since it was a public place he wouldn't use said nickname. He took a sip of the firewhiskey, enjoying how the liquid burned his throat slightly and warmed his body completely.
"...I proposed to Vic this week..." James's first reaction to this was not much, seeing as how he had pretty much known that it would turn out like this. The two were practically inseparable and made a great couple. Finally, James realized that he should act more shocked and grinned widely at his friend. "Congratulations, man!" he said, clapping him on the back. "That's great!"
He had barely gotten done congratulating him when Teddy mentioned that he wanted James to be his best man. "Whoa, Ted. I'd be honored to be your best man!" James knew how cliche this sounded, but he was completely serious about it. "Thanks, man!" he said, his wide grin returning.

Teddy was a bit shocked by James' original reaction, but smiled when he gave him a more active response. "I wanted you to be the first to know" He smirked, after hearing his acceptance. "I wouldn't want anybody else. Who else have I molded into a stud?" He joked with him, giving James a small smirk.
"Don't tell anybody though, you know how Victorie is. She wants to be the one to tell people, so yeah, keep your mouth shut" He chuckled a bit, then continued. You should see the ring-- it's huge. Cost me every sickle of my raise..." He shrugged, then changed the subject. "Anything new for you on that front?"

James was grinning widely, as he was very happy for his friend and his cousin. "Are you serious? I'm the first to know? Nice." he smirked, nodding his head. "Dude, I wouldn't go that far." James said with a laugh when Ted joked with him.
"Don't tell anybody though, you know how Victorie is." "Oh, man, do I." he said, still grinning. His cousin Vic really was a sweet girl, but she was very strict on things. Plus, it was her engagement, and for James to tell other people it would be like stealing her thunder, and that was the last thing James wanted to do.
"Next time I see Vic i'll make sure to take a look at the ring, especially if it cost you that much. But dude, that's pretty cool that you would do that for her." He said with a genuine smile. You could really tell how much Ted loved Vic.
James sighed and sort of shook his head when Ted asked him the question. "Nah, not so much. You know how it is. A few dates here, some flirting there, but nothing really hasn't stuck so far." he shrugged and took a sip of his firewhiskey.
