Romeo sat alone at a table in the far corner of the library, a little annoyed already. Being the shy guy that he was, he decided to sit away from everybody else when he got here before Roxy. She had asked him to meet her here to study for charms, his best subject. Though he thought he knew what was going on, he agreed, since he always was willing to help a friend.
When he got to the library, he propped open his charms text book, Signals, Stuns, and other Spells, on the table and began to read silently. He was approached by a rather large Slytherin, apparently one of their beaters, and whom had treated him garbage. He even used such strong language as mudblood to insult the quiet Lion, but left when Romeo drew his wand. Since then, he'd been too angered to read. He sat, looking at the words on the page, too annoyed to comprehend them.
Mudblood nothing... Just because my family isn't magical... I work harder at it than anybody... Why must everybody be so bloody condescending? Even bloody James Potter acts like I'm nothin... He sat with his thoughts, not noticing any other movement in the library, his temper still brewing. Oh, if he comes back, I won't stop myself. I don't care what happens, I'm tired of this bloody Hogwash!

Roxanne skipped into the library. She had her book bag over one shoulder of her white wife beater. She had on a pair of low rider jeans and some scuffed up sneakers she'd owned for years. She'd decided to go for comfy today, and hadn't bothered with her hair to much, letting it fall loose and slightly wavy around her shoulders. Her makeup, though, she had taken the time to do carefully. It was a bad habbit she'd fallen into, but she could never go out in public without makeup on, except when she was sick.
As she skipped through the open doors she immediatly started looking for her friend Romeo that she'd asked to meet her here. Although she was good at her studies, especially charms, she'd had a few problems with a couple of spells and her dear friend happend to be very good at the subject... plus it didn't hurt that he was damn cute and funny.
As she walked towards one of the shelves a beater from the Slytherin team walked past her eyeing her up and down. Looking haughtily at him she flipped her hair over her shoulder, "Down boy! If you payed half as much attention to the bludger maybe you'd be able to actually come within a dozen points of us in a match." she threw in his face. Walking off laughing to herself.
Stepping around another book case she finally found the man she'd been looking for. "Romeo! Where for art thou Romeo?" she told him dramatically putting a hand to her forehead in mock disspare. [/size]

Romeo shook his head, grinning a bit when he heard her. Though his temper flared easily, he could always be counted on to cheer up when his friends came round. "I'm right here Roxy, but since when are you acting like my Juliet? Do I have some unknown suitor making you jealous?" He laughed, playfully teasing her. She was probably his best friend in Gryffindor, seeing as they had spent many late nights in the Gryffindor Common Room talking.
He smiled even wider when he saw her, and couldn't help but think to himself. Bloody hell! She looks good today... Those low rider jeans are hot... "What were you needing help on? I don't know that I can help you that much... I mean, you get much better grades than I do..." He shrugged his shoulders, then stood up and pulled a chair out for her.

Roxy grinned as she looked at her friend, he really was a cutey. She'd always thought that though really, but with her it was always hard to move past the 'friends' stage in relationships. So she kept her secret crush to herself. "Well I should hope not, or I may have to beat them up!" she told him shocked, "Besides, I thought I was always your Juliet?" she finished raising and eye brow at him.
Moving closer to the table she took the seat he pulled out for her. That was another thing about Romeo that had always endeared him to her, he was actually a gentleman. It wasn't something he just turned on when he wanted to, it was just always there. "Well I'm really having trouble with a couple of charms, and I know you killed the your exam last year so you seemed like the logical choice to help!" she told him setting her books in front of her and turning her full attention to him. As Romeo helped her sit down, he answered her query, smiling to himself. "Oh, I wouldn't complain if you called yourself my Juliet" He chuckled, sitting down across from her. "I did ok..." He shrugged, watching her still. "Which ones? I'll do my best for you..."
He listened to her to her, but shortly after he had to stop her. "Roxy, wait. Can you say that again? I got lost for a moment..." Romeo blushed a bit, as it had been her voice he had gotten lost in. He thought she would know, but it really just could have been him thinking too much.

Roxy smiled across at Rmoeo as he made the comment that she could call herself his Juliet, "Well be careful what you wish for my dear!" she told him grinning mischeviously.
As he told her he did ok she had to smile at his modesty, really he was one of the smartest guys in his year. She just wished sometimes he had a tad more confidence, as in enough to ask her out? Shaking herself from this thought she sat up straighter, "Well basically it's mostly the Color Changing charm and the Silencing Charm. For some reason I keep oddly mixing them up, resulting in the frog i was practicing on to turn hot pink with blue stripes and to screach like my uncle Ron when he sees a spider." she told him having to laugh at the last comment, even though it was completely true.
When she looked back at Romeo she could tell he hadn't heard a word she'd said, "Honestly mr. Bixby! What ever am I going to do with you? I need help with Color Changing and Silencing charms." she told him simplifying the story.

"Maybe I am being careful" He teased back, but didn't think it would lead anywhere. It wasn't weird for them to lightly flirt back and forth like this, though nothing had come of it before. Why would things be any different now?
"I'm sorry Roxy, I didn't mean to zone out..." He listened much more intently this time, then gave her a lopsided smile, and suggested a way to help her. "Why don't you work with one spell for most of today, say the color changing charm, and by the end of today you'll have it down? What to change though... You could help me prank Remus I guess, we could change the color of his suit for the ball..."
Romeo wasn't afraid of pranking his friend, seeing as he wasn't asked to the snowball yet, he feared no retaliation. At least none as far as this event. He could deal with him later if the need so arose.

"Well I've been trying, but I don't think I have it completely right. " she told him taking out her wand and frowning at it.
As he mentioned the prank on Remus she felt the familiar half smile/smirk form on her lips, and the gleam come into her eye that always acompanied a prank idea. But even as this happend, and part of her brain began working out how best to accomplish the prank, the other part shuddered to a halt at the mention of the ball. She still didn't have a date, mostly because she'd left Remus open for his many admirers, and also because she'd been entertaining the wild idea of asking Romeo.
Looking across at him now she saw a gleam in his eye as well as he appeared to think about the prank. Feeling her cheeks flush a little she tried to shake her self. But couldn't get the idea of asking Romeo to the ball. She almost started asking him "Woul-... umm ya that would be fun." when she changed it to a very hastily done comment. Pushing back some of her hair she swallowed hard. Why was it so difficult for her to just open up her mouth and ask him? Some other girl would no doubt be asking him soon, or already had... "Speaking of the ball... are you going with anyone yet?" she asked, trying to seem non-chalant about the whole thing.

Romeo reached over, placing his hand on hers, on her wand. "You'll get it, I'll practice with you til you do" He smiled, blushing a bit when he realized she hadn't pulled away. He was a little shocked by her comment, it was almost as if she was trying to say something else. He was to shy to push though, so he let it go.
"I uh..." He bit his lip when she asked him, for as of yet, he didn't have a date. "I uh.. I was asked by.. a Linsey.. Huff... but I said no... so I don't really have a date. I mean, I don't really know her.. it would have been awkward..." He mentioned the older Hufflepuff, but it was all a lie. He didn't want to seem pathetic in her eyes.

When Romeo put his hand over hers Roxy couldn't help but feel a little tingle in said hand. She felt her self go a bit red, but she didn't wan to pull her hand away.
As Romeo tried to get out his answer she listened patiently. As he said he'd been asked by some Linsey chick from Hufflepuf Roxy's face fell, untill he infromed her he'd said no. At which her face lit up and she grinned hugely at him. She'd been scared he'd already been asked. But now that she knew he wasn't she felt like there was added pressure, because surely someone else would ask him soon. He was a really good looking guy, and sweet as hell.
Taking a deep breath she tried to convince herself to ask him, "Well... what if someone you knew really well asked you?" she asked, mentally cursing herself for chickening out yet again.

Romeo noticed a change in her demeanor when he said no, and raised a single eye brow. "Roxy.. are you..alright?" He asked slowly, putting his hand on her shoulder. When she asked the next question, he smiled a bit easier, not worried about her any more. She seemed fine, and would have said something. Right?
Romeo thought about it for a moment, then realized she had caught him in a lie. "I uh... it depends I guess... but yeah, I would. I mean, it would be a lot of fun... but who would ask me? I've got no sweetheart, as you've pointed out" Romeo playfully stuck his tongue back out at her, and wondered why he had never retracted his hand from her shoulder.

Roxy just had to frown at Romeo as he asked if she was ok, really she wasn't. She was nervouse as hell, and the fact that he put his hand on her shoulder didn't help matters. As he answred her she was barely listening mentally trying to work up the courage to ask him herself. She knew she had too or she'd regret it, but it was hard. Sure she could flirt with ease, but when it came to it she was scared of rejection.
Swallowing hard she noticed he still had his hand on her shoulder, "Well.. umm, do you.. i mean would you, umm... go with me..." she stuttered out, mumbling the last part.

Romeo's eyes got wide as she mumbled the last three words, completely shocked by it. They had always been close, but woah, when did this develop? Wait! Slow down, all she did was ask you to the ball... She could just be asking you as a friend... "I uh..." Romeo stammered out, smiling widely. He nodded his head, trying not to break eye contact as he finished. "I'd be honored to go with you Roxy" He retreated his hand from her shoulder, but only to take her hands again. "Um... I have to ask though... could..."
Romeo gulped, wondering if this would backfire on him, and ruin what they had. He swallowed his fear, then continued hoping she would say yes also. "Could we make this a.. first date?" Romeo shook lightly, afraid that she would say no.

As Romeo looked at her, apparently shocked Roxy almost lost her nerve and ran for it. Especially when he started stammering Oh shit! He's gonna say no... she thought to herself closing her eyes for a second, and feeling her cheeks grow even redder.
But a large smile widened across her face as he said he would go with her, she started to say something but stopped when he grabbed her hands and started speaking again. She was pretty curiouse what else he had to ask.
Could we make this a.. first date?
Roxy let her mouth fall open as she stared at Romeo in shock. Sure she liked him, but she had never guessed he would like her back, or want to date her at all. Realizing she'd been silent for a bit with her mouth hanging open she closed it, "Ya, umm wewll ya sure of course.. i mean if you want to ya i'm fine with that!" she stammered out, curiously out of breathe.

He was shocked she said yes, and was curiously, silent for as long as she was. He smiled, pulled her closer, into a hug and finally broke the silence again. "Yeah, I'd like that..." Romeo backed away again lightly, giving her room. "I uh... I didn't think you would ask me..." He grinned, still holding her hands.
The charms she needed help with slipped his mind, the only thing that mattered to him now was their upcoming date, and of course, just how lucky he was. He never expected to go out with Roxy... Why didn't I see it before? I'm so stupid...
