Well, the Wizarding World is different from what you could imagine -- or even I for that matter. James did love Lily, but they didn't marry. She married instead her best friend, Severus. James hated Severus for that yet he moved on and married a woman by the name of Marlene McKinnon. This seemed to be of little consequence to the wizarding world. But soon these families that held deep and bitter resentment for each other would be thrown into the middle of a predicament that they could have never expected along with the rest of the wizarding world. However, before we get to that, let us spin you the tale the way it be weaved.
The dark lord went after the Potter's after defying him thrice and had killed Marlene, but his own spell had rebounded on him and hadn't killed the infant brat, Harry Potter. It merely left a nasty scar on his forehead and made him a horcrux. However, life went on, as normal. Though, the dark lord had been thwarted. Few were foolish enough to think he were dead. Minerva, Albus, Severus, Lily, James, and Sirius being among the few that realized that he was still on the prowl. Although, Albus had a better understanding of him than the rest as he was the one finding Riddle's horcruxes one by one and destroying them. However, he realized that the man had probably left the last horcrux in his son, however, he wasn't about to try to kill the child to find out. Unfortunately, in the birth of Riddle's son, it resulted in the death of one of his Professors, Septima Vector.
With the poor job he was doing, one may have thought that Cornelius Fudge would have been sacked right there and then, but he wasn't. People praised him and were pleased at his measures of protection because they foolishly thought that Voldemort was gone forever and even if he weren't, well, what could a spirit do to anyone? People didn't believe he would ever come back and so Fudge got a pat on the back and continued his reign as Ministry. A reign that would end in Harry's fifth year not after the death of Cedric Diggory, the only son of Ministry official Amos Diggory. But after the substantial proofs that Dolores Umbridge tried to convince Harry were mere lies, and after all the death and destruction that occurred toward muggles and witches and wizards, alike.
The children's affairs might seem trivial, but oft events in one's childhood dictate whom they are going to be, and in Harry's fifth year he lost his best friend. She was a Slytherin, and the daughter of Severus Snape. They were always seen together, despite the fact that it was known her father didn't like it. However, she was her father's favorite, so she could get away with it. She always helped Harry with Potions and Occulumency. She found him quite entertaining and amusing, she even defended him against the likes of one of her least favorite classmates Draco Malfoy. However, Harry insisted that he didn't need her help and made the fatal mistake of calling her 'Snivellette' just as his father called the girl. The dark eyed young woman blinked a few times before she shook her head. "Fine, Harry. Defend yourself against ferret boy, since you're the oh-so-magnificent boy-who-lived!" With that Miss Snape ran off, her black hair flying behind her, no one seemed sorry to see her go. For, she was a strong person and one that would keep them from tormenting Harry, in her absence. . .
Harry tried making amends, but the girl proved to be just as stubborn as her mother and father combined which wasn't entirely a good thing. She crossed her arms in Potions, refusing to help Harry or even look at him. The Slytherin was determined that she didn't need him. Obviously, she didn't. He was a Potter, she was a Snape. The two were destined to hate each other from the time of their birth and the fact that they had remained friends so long, was obviously some mistake on her part. One that she wouldn't bother making again. She found someone else to love, though, she couldn't entirely forget about those hazel eyes or that perpetually messed up hair. She loved him, she always had, but she had to move on as much as it killed her to do so. Everyone knew that he was going to end up with Ginny, so what did it matter that she was his best friend. It hadn't mattered, at all. Nothing in life came for free or came easy, for that matter. This situation would lend Harry to know that he couldn't just spout off angrily at everyone. That he should learn to keep his emotions in cheek, and that friendships could easily be won or lost in a day and not to take them lightly. However, unbeknown to her, it hurt him that they weren't friends any more; too.
Now, we get to the situation! The situation that effects the whole of the Wizarding World, that is, and it is the second war. Yes, the second war. It is quite clear that the Dark Lord is gaining power what with the recent death of Cornelius Fudge and some others, disappearances, and the fact that the weather is getting increasingly worse due to the fact that the dementors are breeding. Who even knew that was possible? However, evidently it is for a thick fog hangs around the area, and blots the sun out. Sometimes, if one squints they see the sun, but it is a very rare occurrence indeed. Deaths keep occurring, disappearances keep on happening, and the Wizarding World is on the brink of war. Of course, through this all teenagers still fight, flirt, and fall in love as their parents keep striving to keep their children from harm. However, how long will the Ministry stand before it falls prey to Voldemort and his minions? Or will they be able to stave him off? Will the Order be able to stop the Death Eaters? Will the Ministry work with the Order to do so? Decide where you stand. Do you roar with the lions, soar with the ravens, hiss with the cobras, snarl with the badgers? Do you stand up for the rights of others or do you think mudbloods are scum or are you indifferent or unsure of it all? Scrimegour is being stubborn, Dumbledore adamant, and The Dark Lord is convinced that he could take over the wizarding world with a snap of his fingers. Better pick a side, because tomorrow might not last. Whatever happens, it's sad that grudges still be held against old enemies who fight for the same side, can't they see it's Heartbreak To Hate?
