Students ran through the courtyard and into the school for cover as the rain began to pick up and fall to the ground harder. Not Lauri. He looked up at the grey sky and sighed, letting his misty breath blow out in front of him. His long black hair was almost completely soaked, and his robes were wet too. The boy sat on the steps leading up to the entrance of Hogwarts and inwardly laughed at the people running for cover.
He didn't really understand why people didn't like the rain or to get wet. Lauri loved it. He stood up and began to walk around the courtyard. It didn't look completely silly, because there were other people still walking around and enjoying it. Lauri held his black beanie in his hands. A couple were having a sweet moment under the cover of a large tree. Lauri smiled at them. If only he had a girl to keep warm under a tree in the cold rain and sing to softly when she was stressed or worried, he would be a very happy sixth year Hufflepuff.
He turned around again and began walking around aimlessly across the courtyard. He stopped again and tilted his head upward, letting the rain hit his face and slide down his cheeks. Just as quickly as the rain had started coming down fast, it lightened up. Lauri lowered his head again. Bummer.

"Here, can you take my books? You guys go ahead. I'll meet you inside in a few minutes," Madison told her friends as they hurriedly pulled their hoods over their heads and went inside to escape the rain that had started to fall at the end of their Care of Magical Creatures lesson. Unlike her friends, Madison very much enjoyed the rain and wasn't about to escape it immediately. But the rain wasn't the only reason why everyone was hurrying inside. It was lunchtime in the Great Hall, and many of the students were hungry. Madison was hungry, but she could wait another few minutes before going inside. She wanted to enjoy the rain while she could. At least outside it was mostly quiet, and she didn't have to listen to all the chattering in her ears. And that was just how she liked it. With a somewhat relaxed sigh, Madison followed slowly behind the large group of studies that had hurried inside. She looked up into the gray-blue sky and let the rain high her face and run down her cheeks in a tear-like motion. She blinked a few times when some of the droplets of water fell into her eyes. She was careless in her steps, as was usual; she nearly tripped over a small lump of upturned grass. She caught herself, though, as she reached the steps, her extremely tall figure casting a faint shadow. When she reached the steps, though, she saw that there was someone else outside enjoying the rain. She grinned some, recognizing the person sitting there. "Hey Lauri," she told the sixth year boy in her house, taking a seat beside him on the stone steps that led into the castle. She fixed her robes around her some, since the air was cold, and looked at him with a blue gaze. She smiled faintly and looked around at the almost empty grounds. There was a lingering few people, no more than a handful, walking around, talking to each other, joking around. "You're not hungry?" she asked him, looking a bit questioningly in his direction. ooc;; sorry it's a crap post.[/blockquote]

OOC- Oh, no... that is a FINE post. I have ADHD so I can't read much more LOL! (sorry)
Lauri sat back down on the steps and began to tap on his knees and hum softly to himself. The rain again started to come down a little harder, and one side of his lips curled up into a smirk. Lovely, he thought. He opened his eyes and shook out his hair, ruffling it slightly with one of his hands. He wore black, fingertipless gloves. He then took his black beanie and swiftly pulled it back over his head. Just then, he heard people and felt a presence behind him.
The voice that said his name was kind and familiar. Lauri looked up to see Madison Porter. He was familiar with her because she was only a year older than him and in Hufflepuff as well. Apparently, she didn't mind the rain either. It was so nice to have at least someone to talk to and look less-awkward sitting on the steps in the rain. He smiled at her openly.
"Hey, Madison," he said. He heard some people approaching, running quickly and making a lot of noise. Lauri's gaze followed them as they ran up the steps and into the building. He then looked back at Madison. "I'm sort of hungry.." he then shifted his attention to if he actually was, and he found that he wasn't lying. "What about you, aren't you hungry?" he asked and then stood off the grounding, wiping anything- if there was something- off his robes.

People came running up the steps past Madison and Lauri. It was obvious that they did not care about anyone else besides themselves, because they were being loud and not bothering to apologize as they went into the building. Silence fell between the two Hufflepuffs as they sat there; the only noise that could be heard was the falling of the raindrops against the ground and against their skin. Madison sighed to herself and watched him as he stood to his feet. Her blue gaze looked at him in questioning. Was he really about to just get up and leave her there by herself?
"Just a bit. But you know me… I'll just grab an apple or a banana, something light." Everyone in Hufflepuff house knew that Madison didn't eat meat, and she hadn't since her arrival at Hogwarts. She had made up her mind at the age of eleven that she would be more kind to animals; her first step was to reduce the amount of meat she ate, which had turned into none at all. It made her feel good about herself, mostly because it helped keep her slender and because it made her look less cruel. She blinked a few times.
Another thin Madison was famous for was the fact that she tended to take in any and all stray animals she could. Her parents were getting a bit agitated by the fact that she had six cats, two dogs, an owl, and a rat. The cats and dogs had been found roaming the streets around her home outside of Hogwarts. She loved animals, and she didn't want them to be left out in the cold, especially in the winter.
"How are you liking this year? Anything different from last year?" She stood to her feet as well, her height becoming apparent as she did so. She was a tall girl, seventeen and already 5'11". She smiled gently at her housemate and tucked some of her wet strands of hair behind her face.
ooc;; ha. i just glanced at your profile for lauri and both madison and lauri smoke. XD

ooc- oh really? that's cool! and lol! i forgot about the part where she sat down xD that's why i made lau stand
Lauri put his head down and smirked at Madison. He remembered now that she was the one who did not eat meat. He could never remember little details about people like that. Well, maybe that one wasn't so little. However, he did respect the fact that she chose to be a vegetarian and being less cruel to animals. Lauri loved animals too, but the meat was already on the table and there was nothing he could do to stop it, so why not eat it? Besides, not as many guys were vegetarians as girls. The guys tended to eat much more meat to be more muscular and bulky... along with some exercise.
"Wow," he said with a soft chuckle. He wasn't the best guy to have a conversation with when he didn't know you that well. He was so quiet when around people who weren't close friends and he kind of likes to keep to himself. Perhaps that's one of the reasons he was sorted into the Hufflepuff house... well, a big reason maybe. "Simple apple or banana can fill you up?" he said asked, he made errors in his speaking from his bad english. It being his second language- he struggled.
"An' this year has been good, so far," he said in reply to her question. "Nothing much has changed, except for I have work with Katherin Finnigan and practice flying while she listen to my band's music." He grinned sheepishly and looked down at the ground. When Madison stood up, Lauri was shocked slightly at how tall she was. She was taller than he was! He was only 5'10! He looked up at her face and then away. He had trouble looking people in the eyes for some reason unless he was completely comfortable with them.
"What about you?" he began. "Anything new or interesting with you?" Lauri's hands subtly played with the sides of his robes, the tips of his fingers were freezing, but he didn't mind. He looked down at one of his hands and watched the rain trickle down it.

He seemed surprised by what she had said about a simple apple or banana. She knew that she was thin, but did she really seem anorexic to him? Blinking, she decided that she should clarify before he thought she seriously was anorexic, or that something so small and simple would fill her up.
"Nah," Madison said with frantic shakes of her head. "Apples and bananas, just something to hold me over. I only eat two big meals a day, breakfast and dinner, and have a snack at lunch. It may appear to some people that I can't eat much even at meals, but I can eat. I can eat a lot." She grinned from one ear to the other. It was true. She was a tall, skinny girl who appeared to starve herself. But when it came time to eat, she would eat more than anyone else around her. It was amazing, the amount of food she could put down in one sitting.
He explained about how his year was going so far. He spoke of Quidditch and explained that he was working with some girl, but that she was listening to his band songs in return. She nodded her head, thinking it was a nice trade. Glancing at another few people as they stepped up the steps, she barely realized he was returning her question. She turned her head quickly and then responded.
"Me? No, not really. Everything's about the same for me." She thought for a moment. Was there anything new with her? She couldn't think of anything. She had most of the same classes as she had last year, just a level higher. She still didn't like or get along with her aunt. Her parents were as insane as ever. Everything was just the same as it had always been. "I got a bit taller. That's different. And my hair's longer." She laughed a bit at her sad attempt at jokes and then shrugged her shoulders. "But I don't guess that matters, huh?"

ooc- I'm so sorry this is short
Lauri nodded his head as Madison talked. He had learned once that instead of two or three big meals in a day, it's actually more healthy if you ate four to six smaller meals. He used to understand the reason, but it was too long ago now and since then forgot. Then she told him that she could eat a lot.
"I can believe that," he stated. "I have friend who is maybe skinnier than you, and she eats a lot!" He grinned. He then snickered at her last statement. "Hah, wow, you got taller? I guess you are right... it doesn't really matter all that much, but you're already so tall as it is! You are taller than me!" He grinned and put his head down. Inside his pocket he played with his lighter and then he shook out his head again.
Lauri wasn't all that sure of what to say now. He never really was much of the talking type. He was grinding his teeth and then looked back up to her. "The rain doesn't bother you like other people?" he asked. "If you want we could go inside..."
