Grinning broadly, she said, "Good. I'd hate to think I left you out here waiting for ages...and thanks. My grandmum bought it for me. It's one of my favs." Katherine's grandmum Finnigan had always called Kat her little Irish gem and other things like that but she never minded it like some people would. Kat rather fancied the Irish side of her family and she simply adored her heritage. In fact, she was so proud to be half Irish that she intended to make the National team if she could. It would be the highest possible honour as far as she was concerned.
Following him out the portrait, Katherine, smiled even more and replied, "I think a good jog around the castle to warm up a little...then we'll run over to the pitch. If you want to drop your stuff off first, though, we can do that too. I'm not picky really." She started walking slowly toward the stairs such that she could head to the exit. It wasn't far but the pitch was a fair distance since it was half way around the castle.

Lauri let the portrait hole fall close behind him and then started to walk toward the staircase- yet again- with Kat. He liked her attitude toward her heritage. He too loved his heritage. When he goes to places like Germany, or even here at school he tries to be as Finnish as possible, and not to try to blend with everyone else.
"We will run first," he told her. He looked down at his pants and put his CD into the pocket. Since they were pretty big and baggy the pockets were fairly large too. Large enough to fit a CD. "It is pretty lose in there, it won't break. The pitch is pretty far away to drop it off first." He smiled and then hit the stairs, walking down them at a nice pace. He thought of what songs he would play for her outside. She said she liked rock, which was a good thing, but some of their songs had an alternative feel to them other than just rock.

"How about you? It's a little more than obvious you're not English - not that it's a bad thing or anything like that. I can't exactly place your accent though. I mean, it's a nice one...I just wouldn't be able to pinpoint where you're from," she said, finding that she was probably babbling on a bit. Kat didn't want to be misunderstood so she always had the habit of sometimes over explaining herself. And, in those isntances, it came off like she was rambling...or she thought it sounded like that sometimes.
Jogging down the stairs, she glanced over at Lauri and nodded. Doing their running around the castle would be the best bet for starts. "Yeh, the pitch is a fair ways so you're right," Kat agreed wholeheartedly, "Off we go then?" Stepping off the stone staircase to the outside grounds, she smiled and nodded shortly toward the side where they were to run toward.

Lauri followed her with a quiet jog down the staircase and headed out to the grounds with her. "Oh!" he said when she asked about his heritage. "I am sorry I didn't tell you!! I am from Finland, and I'm sorry for bad english, it is not my first language." He laughed at himself as a fresh breeze hit his face as he jogged. He was glad that she didn't mind his accent, because sometimes when he was around other people it made him self concious, but it was getting better. Sometimes when he spoke there was no accent, but not usually.

Katherine jogged a little slower than she usually did so that she could let Lauri keep up with her. It was easier to talk if you kept at a more steady pace than pushing it. Laughing lightly, she said, "No worries. Don't even think twice about your spoken English, Lauri. It's really very good actually. And...I don't want to sound silly or anything, but your accent is quite charming." Perhaps it was just Katherine's fancy for accents or just that she enjoyed differences but, either way, she felt it was best to just out and say it.
Around the first corner of the castle, Katherine felt her pulse very slowly starting to pick up the more she jogged. It was always a good feeling to get the blood flowing. Smiling more, she kept the same pace she'd had when they first started out. It would take them a little longer to make it all the way around but she didn't mind. "So then, what's your favourite part of going to school in England?" she asked with a soft smile, turning her attention back toward the pathway in front of her

Lauri blushed slightly at Kat when she told him that his accent was charming, and that his english was pretty good. Yet again she made him feel better about his accent.
"Thank you!" he said as he kept a steady pace with Kat. He was always pretty good at running long distances. He was actually pretty good at sprinting short distances too. He was always pretty active, always out with friends or jumping around as he sang with his friends. He often skateboarded with his friends in the summer and found places to snowboard during his winter breaks back at home. Those were some things he was good. at.
"My favorite part about going to school in England is..." Lauri began thoughtfully to Kat's question. "I would have to say my favorite part about going to school here is the people, and the nature and all sorts of thing really." Lauri was a pretty big nature freak, one of his strongest subjects was herbology. "Do you live here in England, or do you live in Ireland? Or somewhere else?!" he asked her curiously to see how far she travelled for school.

"No worries," said Kat, giving him a light wink and continuing to jog. She rather enjoyed hearing him talk and had since they first met so she wasn't about to deny that. It was only fair he knew too. After all, they were friends and she always based her friendships on trust and honesty. Then again, that was one of the biggest things that had her landed in Hufflepuff house. Then again, at times, she could be a little too trusting.
Grinning proudly, she replied, "I live in England since my mum was insistent on staying here...close to her family and her job. But, I'm nearly always in Ireland over holidays. I practically live with my grandmum Finnigan when I'm not at school. And, after this year, I'll probably get a place over there anyway. Might rent a place with my cousin Liam. He's about three years older than me...but we're pretty close."

Lauri kept his eyes in front of him to watch where he was going, and then glanced at Kat when she spoke. He thought it was pretty interesting about her living with her grandmother most of the time, Lauri wasn't too fond of his grandma. Every time Lauri was visiting she acted like he was some kind of slave, but she was old and he didn't mind.
"It is awesome how you go to Ireland a lot. I have never been there before," he said. "I have heard that it is beautiful and I've always really wanted to visit." She talked about moving there when she finished school, and he was pretty amazed. "Oh, yeah! Because this is your last year at Hogwarts!" he smiled and looked back at the ground at his feet. "Lucky you! I've still got a year left!"

"Oye! Ireland is absolutely gorgeous! The scenery is brilliant and the hospitality that you get there is just bloody amazing. You know, if you ever do make it out that way, you'll always have a place to stay," Katherine told him with a bright smile, "Just give me a ring or send an owl along. Even if I don't get a place, my grandmum's door is always open too." She knew that it was a little pretentious of her to be making an offer on account of her grandmother but Kat just knew her grandmum that well.
Jogging around the next corner of the castle, she glanced over at Lauri again. It really was an amazing thought to know that this was her last year of school but she also knew she'd be missing most of her friends and professors once it was over. Sighing softly, she went on to say, "Yeh...last year of Hogwarts. I'm gonna miss this place really...and all my friends. You'll have to write me tons to keep me updated."

Lauri laughed at Katherine as she talked about Ireland and how he could go to her grandmothers. He didn't know if she would like him there very much... but then again Lauri had no idea what her grandmother was like. He imagined the feeling of just being in Ireland.
"Ah, I would really like to go someday," he said. "And thanks for the invite, hehe. I'll have to look in to that. I have always been interested in looking at old castles and other things."
Lauri then thought of how he would feel next year, when it was his last year at Hogwarts. He believed that he would feel very sad and miss his friends, yet he'd be out on a good life away from school and ready to make a living. "Well good luck next year on your own," he told her with a sideways grin.

Katherine was slightly puzzled at why Lauri was laughing, she shook off the thought and smiled even brighter. She figured it probably had to do with how enthusiastically she was describing Ireland. It was a habit but she just adored the country that much and wouldn't deny it for even a second. Ireland was going to be, as far as Katerine was concerned, where she made her future home...Quidditch or not.
"No worries on the invite. That's what friends are for, aye?" said Kat giving him a friendly wink as she passed around the final corner of the castle and headed toward the pitch, "Oye! I could show you around if you make it over there this summer. Bet me cousin Liam would adore ya too. Show ya all about to the best clubs and maybe get you in to play if you want." Kat couldn't help being excited...even if Lauri wasn't able to make it to Ireland. Just the thought of being able to show a friend around and actually introduce someone to her Irish side of the family was enough to make her extremely happy.

Lauri continued the jog, but actually picked up the pace a teeny tiny bit as he saw the pitch approaching. His eyes widened when she spoke about if he came to Ireland. He would most definatley have to go visit there.
"That would be fantastic!" he said enthusiastically. "I would love to see around the country, and Liam sounds very nice! It would be fantastic if he could get me and the boys in to club!" Lauri fell silent and thought about how great it would feel to perform on stage in front of people. He had performed in front of people as a small child in talent shows for school and other things, and he had no problem with it. It felt entirley natural to him. "You are too nice," he said. 'But what could I do in return...' he wondered.

"Liam is the best cousin in the world...almost like a brother really. Well, better than mine anyway," she laughed softly, "I tag along with him and my cousins Greg and Tony pretty much like my dad did with my uncle Fergus and Uncle Kevan. I guess it's sort of a family tradition in a way. My granddad Finnigan used to be followed around by me great uncle Ciaran too. And here I am, babbling on about my family like a nutcase. Sorry about that."
Katherine adored her Irish roots. That meant every single one of her relatives on that side of the family. There might have been one or two that she didn't get along with so well but the very extended Irish side of her family was all close. It was nothing like her mum's side. They were much more prim and proper with scheduled events for getting together whereas her dad's side just showed up and they always wound up doing insane and fun things. Smiling to herself at just thinking about how it would be if she got to actually spend holiday in Ireland again this year, Katherine found herself jogging a little faster toward the pitch.
"Anyway, I bet that he could get you and your band in to play. He's got a few friends that work in a couple of clubs around Ireland so there's got to be at least one that'll be open to live music," she added with a smile as they finally reached the pitch

Lauri watched Kat and listened as she talked about her family. It was always fun to hear about other's and their intersts and family. In a way, he wished that he had awesome family that he could talk about.
"It's okay!" Lauri said in response to Kat's apology. "I like to hear about other family." He also started to pick up his pace with Kat as they advanced toward the pitch. As they reached the pitch, Lauri kept jogging but stopped once they got inside. He looked around and realized that it had been a good while since he'd actually been here.
"Again, that would be awesome if your cousin could get us into club. We would really appreciate, but if he cannot it is okay, he said politley. He was grateful for her offer and he grinned. "So," he said. "Are you ready to see me fall?"

Kat was glad that Lauri didn't mind her rambling on and on about her dad's side of the family. It was a bit of a habit she had once she really got talking about them but who wouldn't like reminscing about their family if they had half as much fun as Katherine did when she was with hers. Smiling brigtly, she slowed her pace to a light jog as they finally arrived at the pitch. Before stopping completely, she did a few high steps to fully stretch out parts of her legs so they didn't cramp. One thing she'd learned very well was to do a bit of stretching.
"If he can't, I'll get you in somewhere. I've been told I'm half way decent at convincing people of things sometimes," she giggled softly, finally coming to a complete stop. Bending a few different ways, she stretched out some of her other muscles and then paused to take a drink of water from the bottle she'd conveniently summoned. After she swallowed the cool liquid, Kat replied, "All ready when you are...but I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit."
With wand in hand again, she summoned her Nimbus and waited patiently for it to arrive. A few seconds passed before the well cared for broom came soaring toward the pitch. As it neared, she stopped it and took the slender handle into her left hand. With a grin, she asked, "Want to use my broom or do you have one you care to use instead?"
