As the song changed, Kat had to split her attention between the music and Lauri. For some reason, every single time she started getting really into Quidditch, even talking about it or explaining things like flying, she would tend to tone out a lot of things. It was all a part of being a little overly focused. As she watched Lauri start to maneuver the broom to land, she felt confident enough that he grasped the concept. As such, she took another step back and listened to the music more. It was quite impressive how good his band was...which made her a little surprised that they weren't already on the WWW or doing touring all around the world.
Her attention was temporarily distracted when she noticed him getting a little wobbly. The way he angled it had her feeling a bit uneasy but he corrected it. Then, of course, he'd over-corrected. Had he been a little higher up or going faster, she might have gasped or been worried about him but he seemed like a sturdy enough bloke that he'd not break anything if he slid off. As she'd been thinking about it, she watched him land on his feet. Even if she wasn't truly worried about him, it was a relief that he wasn't injured.
"No worries mate. You're all in one piece and the broom's still in one piece as well," she said with a friendly smile, "And there's plenty of daylight left to give it another go or two until we've got it down to perfection." Giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, she nodded confidently. Katherine was sure he'd get it down quickly considering how well he picked up on the hovering bit. "Yeh...best to learn how to land before getting too far," she agreed with a light giggle, "Oye...if you'd've seen me the first time I learned to land...bloody hell! I don't think I've ever been more thankful for grass in my life. Even so, I think me bum was sore for weeks."

Lauri was relieved when Kat's reaction was so calm. He hadn't been expecting her to freak out or anything, but it was still a relief. He straightened himself out, and then remounted the broom, this time striving to do it better than before. Once he was mounted he kicked off again and began to hover.
He thought that maybe if he went slightly higher than before he might be a little more balanced. Either that or it would make him go off-balance faster than before. The way he saw it, it was better to try and find out! So, he made himself go a little higher and hover for a moment. He felt comfortable and confident and began to lower himself again. He caught himself making the same mistake as before, but instead of over-correcting himself he did it how he was supposed to and landed on the ground.
It hadn't been the smoothest landing in the world, but hey, he had landed without falling of the side like a little girl. Lauri smirked and looked at Kat. "Well that time it worked!" he said as he looked back down at his feet on his ground.

Katherine was a little surprised to see him have a second attempt at it so soon. She watched him mount the broom and kick off almost as though he'd done it a million times over. She was incredibly impressed at how steady and fluid he was able to get the broom into the air and hover. It took most first years, and others just learning, a few times before they had as much control as Lauri did already. Getting into the air seemed easy enough for him which was always a good thing. It meant that he'd be fairly decent with the flying part as long as he didn't try going too fast straight away.
As he rose higher up that he'd done earlier, she pondered what he had planned. Either way, she remined quiet so that he could concentrate on his landing. He'd seemed to grasp the basics of it so she didn't have to establish how to do it again. Instead, she listened to the music and watched him. This time, as the broom started to move down toward the ground, she held her breath a little. Falling from this height would hurt a little more than if he'd fallen earlier. Luckily, rather than over-correct, she saw him handle the broom properly and eventually land it.
"Well done Lauri! You didn't give yourself enough credit earlier mate," she said, giving him a congratulatory pat on the back. Katherine thought about his landing before she asked, "Do you want to have another go at landing before you take off flying or do you think you've got it down?" Either way, she was confident that he'd do well but she wanted him to feel comfortable with his abilities rather than pushing him before he was ready.

Lauri looked back up from the ground and at Kat as she congratulated him. His parents had always told him that when someone was talking to him he should never be looking elsewhere. They always wanted him to be so prim and proper, and they're not very approving of how he is now.
Katherin then asked him if he wanted to begin flying or try landing once more. It didn't take him long to make his decision. "We can try to flying this time!" he said casually with a hint of excitement. He always described himself as 'very ambitious guy', and that's basically what he was. Always eager to learn new things. Lauri nodded very lightly to himself to the song that was playing.

It hadn't taken him very long to come to a decision as to whether he wanted to give the landing bit another go or start with a little flying. Oddly enough, she sort of reminded her of how excited she was to fly for the first time. It was almost as though she couldn't wait. If she recalled correctly, that hadn't been the best of things considering, in retrospect, she really wasn't ready for it. But she could tell that Lauri would probably do better than she had back then...just as long as he didn't rush himself.
"Alright then. You know how to mount, kick off and hover, so we'll start out with that," she said watching him thoughtfully, "Then...for breaking and slowing, you'll pull the end of the broom up. It's always good to know that before you get started...just in case." Katherine laughed very lightly as she remembered her first year and half the students in her flying class. She'd already knew the basics of flying by eleven but a lot of the kids didn't so when it came time to stop or slow down, a couple of them had a real tough time of it.

(OOC- omg it's been over a month. I so sorryz!! Rp block )
Lauri watched and listened to Kat intently as she told her some very helpful tips for flying. He was so focused on taking things in that the music playing in the back seemed to be completely gone. When Katherine was finished, he took the broom and then hovered on it again. Before he actually started to fly though, he had one question that was left unanswered for Kat.
"Uh... I know this is a stupid question, but I just want to make sure before I fall..." he began. "But to go foward do you just.. lean forward or something..." He looked to Kat and awaited an answer.
(ooc again- daaammmn it's like my RP skills have gone WAAAAAAY down

As the music continued to play in the background, she found that her attention was divided between that and her duties as his temporary instructor. She would be absolutely sure to have a proper chat with Liam the very first time she could about having him let all the pubs and clubs that he knew people from know about Lauri and his band. Kat still couldn't see how they hadn't been signed to some sort of recording deal already. They were obviously very good...more than good enough to be professional musicians.
"Oh, no. That's not a stupid question at all Lauri," she said with a bright smile, "But, yeah, you do lean forward...but just a little. If you go too far, then you'll end up either going entirely too fast or flipping over all together." To be sincerely honest, she was rather proud of him for asking that question. Since Kat hadn't told him already, it was very astute of him to ask.
{ooc: No worries at all! I know everyone's been really busy lately...so it's all good.}

As Kat answered his question, Lauri smirked and imagined himself flipping over at full speed high up in the air and landing on his face, along with a cot in the hospital wing.
"Thanks," he said and leaned forward slightly. The broom jolted a little bit and he pulled back to make it stop. He automatically laughed at himself loudly. He grinned sheepishly and then tried it once more. This time he was ready for the feeling and he began to fly around. Lauri didn't go too far away from Kat, because she wanted him to practice the slowing and stopping. He circled back around to her and then pulled it to a halt.
"Well," he began and looked down at her with a grin. "It's easier than I remember, but I couldn't imagine having to do this professionally. You've got a talent, Kat!"

Katherine nodded and replied, "No worries mate." For a moment or two, she watched his technique so that she knew what to expect. Most of the new models of brooms were flier friendly but there were a fair few that did have their quirks as well. Hers, though, was easy enough to use so she didn't expect there would be any problems just as long as he knew his limits and what felt comfortable enough for him. As she observed, Kat noticed his first attempt hadn't gone over so well but it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.
Attempt number two. Grinning proudly, Katherine watched him flying around and then turning back and, finally, stopping just as he reached her. She was half tempted to applaud him but then it might seem a little silly. Instead, she smiled very brightly and said, "Very well done! I think you must have underestimated yourself a little Lauri. You're a very quick learner." She was so caught up in being excited that he'd done it so well that she nearly missed his compliment at the end. To it, she did reply, "Thanks mate...but I think you're the talented one. I mean...your band's music is brill."
