It was a beautiful afternoon. It was sunny, warm, and there was a slight breeze coming from the west. A perfect day for some quidditch practice. Too bad, Cooper hadn't booked the pitch for the day. It was too late now to call a practice. Ah, well that wouldn't stop him from coming out to take a go around. Why miss an opportunity in such perfect conditions?
Cooper trotted from the castle to the empty pitch. He entered the Gryffindor locker room, getting out his broom. He took off his sweater and tie. The sweater would get him too hot, and the tie would fly in his face. Coop didn't bother with goggles or anything. He liked the open fresh air. It was good for the lungs. Better than that, dingy dungeon air, or a stuffy classroom. Wide open spaces was all he needed to get by.
He stepped out onto the pitch, broom in hand. Taking in a deep breath of the sweet smelling air, he mounted his broom. Releasing his breath he kicked off the ground hard, shooting up into the air. Coop flew a few laps around the pitch, at a nice gentle speed. Nothing too fast, but nothing at a turtle's pace. Just quick enough to get the air nipping at his cheeks, turning them bright red. After a few moments, Cooper picked up his pace and ran a few laps, weaving in and out of the goal hoops with perfect form, never slipping up. After a few times around, he noticed there was a figure of someone on the ground. He was too high to see exactly who it was.

Hair tied back into a tight ponytail and a bottle of water in her left hand, Katherine Finnigan began to jog around the castle at a medium pace. After changing into her black warm-up pants and a t-shirt, she'd done her stretching and now it was her scheduled jogging time. Actually, it was significantly later than the usual time she'd set out for her exercise regimen but she had to finish up an essay for one of her classes earlier in the morning so she settled for an afternoon jog instead.
The heat from the sun warmed her skin as she made a turn around the North tower and headed along the next wall. Two or three full laps around the castle was usually enough to get her heart rate up. Once she'd finished with the task at hand, she lifted her bottle of water to her lips and took a long drink of the still chilled water. Oh the wonders of magic! Though she'd finished the more basic part of her general workout, there was still plenty to do before she was completely done for the day. As she reached the front steps of the castle, she lifted the broom, that had been propped against the stairs and locked there with a simple enough charm, and started at a light jog toward the pitch.
If there was one thing Katherine prided herself on, it was her natural abilities when it came to Quidditch. She loved to keep herself in shape and a little bit of practice, just so she didn't get rusty, never hurt either. As her feet touched the thicker grass of the pitch, she smiled to herself. There really was nothing like Quidditch. Testing the air, she noted that there was a very slight breeze coming out of the West. Just as she mounted her broom, however, she noticed that someone was already flying around. Surely the pitch wasn't booked for a team practice! thought Kat as she pondered who in Merlin's name had been thinking the same thing as she. The figure was far too high up for her to tell who it was though.

Cooper stopped flying about and squinted. He attempted to figure out who it was from where he was but, he was too high up. From where he was, he could tell that this person was holding a broom. So, there wasn't a chance that it was girl who was there to slap in the face or something.
Coop hesitated before descending down to the ground. He didn't think anyone had booked the field for the day. Just in case though, he thought he'd go check things out. As he got closer to the ground he recognized who was standing there. With a small smirk, Coop hovered near her. The her was Katherine Finnigan. The two were friends, and Coop flirted with her. Not like that was anything new, Coop and flirting, it went hand in hand. "Well, hello there, Katherine Finnigan. Fancy seeing you out here."

As the person on the broom began to descend, Kat could tell that it wasn't a female simply by the size and shape of the figure. Standing her ground, she waited patiently for whomever it was to get near enough for her to tell exactly who he was. The nearer he got, the more obvious it was who the flying figure was. And, the more obvious it became, the more confident Katherine was about sticking around.
Standing herself up straighter, she grasped the handle of her broom in her right hand and the bottle of water she was carrying around in her left. Ah, yes, Cooper Weasley...she'd known him for what seemed like ages. She could have had her eyes closed and still been able to tell that there was a smirk present on his face as he addressed her...THAT was how long they'd known each other...or, perhaps, just how transparent he was. Greeting him with a friendly smile, Kat repied, "Hello to you Mister Weasley. Can I safely assume you've taken to reading people's minds lately?" So what if she was being a little playful! They were friends after all.

Cooper chuckled at Kat's greeting. "Reading minds? Yes, it's new hobby of mine. It fun, you should try it sometime." His ever present smirk on his face. It was a smirk that everyone knew, it was his trademark of sorts.
Coop landed softly the ground. He dismounted from his broom, propping it up next to him. "So, you're thinking...." He drifted off, mocking thought. "Ah, you were thinking that you'd come and watch me, because I'm pretty and you know you want this," he said, pointing to himself. Often times Coop would flirt with his jokes. He liked having it all in one package. "I can't blame you," he added. "I am rather fascinating."

Katherine had a very good feeling that her joke would get twisted and turned so that he could use it to his advantage. She was quite used to it by now. That and his trademark smirk. Sometimes it could be quite annoying but she honestly couldn't imagine seeing him completely without it.
Shaking her head in a very amused fashion, she laughed lightly. "Ah, yes, you're just so pretty that I just couldn't keep myself from coming out here to bask in your charm and beauty," she giggled jokingly. Katherine, of course, hadn't ever really thought of him as anything more than a friend (a VERY flirty friend) so his teasing and flirting always seemed to get a good laugh out of her. "Fascinating? Do you mean that in the sort of way a flobber worm is fascinating?" she joked, studying his expression

"A flobber worm? Ah..no." Cooper replied, shaking his head a bit. His expression remained unchanged. He had a knack for keeping the same smart alec smirk for generally a long time. That blocked other emotional expressions that might actual display any flaw or weakness. "I'm so fascinating, I have my own category," he said, still smirking.
"Or, did you come out here to confess you're undying love for me, hm?" he questioned, with a raised brow. Of course, Coop knew that wasn't true. He was sure there was some shy girl out there that probably had feelings for him. Cooper was just having a bit of trouble finding that one girl he could really give his heart to. So, he resorted to flirting. He liked making girls smile, least then he'd know he did a good deed for the day.

Cheeky bloody bugger! thought Kat as he replied with the same exact expression as earlier. Though she knew she should have expected it, Katherine was still as determined as she'd been from day one to find something about Cooper Weasley that proved he wasn't just some always flirty and happy-go-lucky kind of guy. Everyone had to have their bad days or moments when some weakness or other showed but Cooper, on the other hand...she didn't even know what to make of it. He was always as cheeky as ever with a smile or smirk ever present on his charming face.
"Oye! If I wanted to do that, Coop, I'd have found some far more cheesy and romantic way to confess my affections than showing up on the pitch completely unprepared. And here I thought you'd known me better than that," she teased, poking him in the arm with her index finger and shaking her head in a scolding sort of manner. It was hard not to crack a smile but she didn't want to ruin her own little joke.

"Hey, watch it, love." He said, rubbing his arm where Kat had poked him. It didn't hurt him, he was only joking, yet again. It was like almost every word that came out of his mouth was a joke in some manner. He couldn't help doing it, he loved it. "This is a very important arm you know. I have to be able to defend the goal. Where would my team be without it's, dashing, charming, talented, captain?" That comment was a bit egotistic but, so was Cooper.

"Dashing? Talented?" Katherine gasped as if she was hearing it for the very first time. At random, she burst into a fit of giggles and even doubled over for added effect. Holding her stomach, with one hand and keeping her right hand on her broom, she shook her head and continued to laugh almost hysterically for a few moments.
After she was done with her giggle fit, she stood up and took in a few deep breaths before going on to say, "That was a good one. You're a funny guy Cooper Weasley. Be careful though. Someone might think you really were some self-centered and bloody self-obsessed prat. Patting him on the shoulder, she shook her head in an amused manner again. Though it might have seemed as though Katherine wasn't the biggest fan of Cooper, even she had to admit (but never to him) that she was quite fond of him and that he was a brill friend.

"Oh, dear Katherin," Cooper said, with a small frown and his hand on his heart. "That really hurts." He figured she was only joking but, he liked to lay things on. He faked a small snifle. At least he knew they could toss around some playful banter now and then.
"Oh but, I wasn't joking. I am dashing, talenting, and charming - don't you think?" Cooper said, batting his eye lashes. It did sound self-centered. He was self-centered, only to a certain extent.

Shaking her head at him, Katherine couldn't help smiling and laughing lightly again. She wouldn't deny that he did have a certain charm about him. After all, virtually everyone in Hogwarts knew that Cooper Weasley was a charmer...but that wasn't going to stop her from teasing him about his Quidditch abilities or his self-deemed dashing "good looks".
"Oye! So you really are an egotistical prat then?" Kat questioned jokingly, already knowing the answer but playing along with it all the same. She hadn't disagreed with him but she figured her interrogation was enough to get the point across. If not, she would be forced into completely disagreeing. Still watching his expressions, she couldn't help a soft giggle at how he batted his eyelashes...almost in a feminine way.

"Maybe, just a little. It can't be helped," Cooper said, finally settling with a shrug. He was giving in, sort of. Coop wouldn't admit when he was beaten but, he was suttly letting Kat know that she did. "Alright then, if you aren't here to see me, what do you plan on doing then?" he asked her. His smirk had feel from his face but, he still remained cheery.

Katherine grinned proudly, knowing perfectly well that she'd won this round. She'd lost plenty over the years but she had also won a few as well. It wasn't exactly a competition that she'd been keeping track of but every now and then it was nice to know she'd successfully beaten Cooper "the wonderful" Weasley.
"I'm running a little late for my daily workout," she answered honestly, "Had a ruddy assignment to finish but I came out to fly a few drills. I still plan to...if you don't mind a little company, of course." Even though they were both on their house's team, Kat honestly didn't mind playing friendly with the competition when there wasn't an actual match.

"Mind a little company?" Cooper questioned, or rather just restated. "Now, Kat - you know that I never turn down company from pretty girls." Even though he was finished, Coop couldn't help himself. He never let an opportunity get past him. Maybe that's why he couldn't keep a girlfriend, maybe they all thought it got annoying. Although, all other girls he's friends with - they don't seem to mind. It was something that puzzled Cooper and he thought about it from time to time. He always ended up just thinking that there is a girl out there who can stand his nonsense.
Cooper grinned. He remounted his broom and hovered around Katherine. Coop circled around her slowly. "Well, ladies first," he said.
