"Its called faking appropriate age. The Hogs head don't eve really check for age so its easy to get one there. I've been drinking since last year. Its random though. It not like I go alcohol crazy." Lucinda said, "And I don't start getting tipsy till drink five."

"Good Merlin's beard!" she murmured quitely to herself as Lucinda mentioned faking her age and just how easy it was to get alcohol for underaged witches and wizards. Katherine really couldn't understand why people would be so keen to alter their state of mind just to do it. Besides that, both muggle whiskey and wizarding firewhiskey tasted horrible! At least that's what she thought anyway.
"Just out of curiosity, why is it that you drink?" asked the Hufflepuff girl, "I mean, is there a specific reason you've decided to start drinking as of last year and continue to do so?" I just really didn't make any sense to her at all.

"Well I got curious on what it tasted like so I decided to fake my age to get a fire whiskey. I did so and tried it. It was good so I just drink a few when I get tired of butter beer." Lucinda said, "It just gives me something to alter too. I mean Butterbeer gets tiring after awhile."

"Butterbeer is quite delightful in that it's actually sweeter than pumpkin juice...almost like a sort of candy really," Katherine observed mostly to herself rather than a direct comment. She'd always fancied juice and butterbeer but never something that would alter her state of mind. In fact, Kat liked to be in complete control over her thoughts and her actions.
Watching the surface of the black lake move and shift as some creature beneath swam off in some direction or another. It made her curious to know exactly what it was but she didn't put too much thought into it. Instead, she looked back over toward Lucinda and asked, "Do you want to go for a fly or something rather than sitting here all afternoon?"

"Sure I'm up for flying." Lucinda said with a smile. She tucked her hair behind her ears and said, "I am always up for flying. It's my favorite past time. Along with drawing." She concluded.

"Do you have your wand? I mean, to summon your broom or would you prefer to run in to get it?" asked Katherine curiously. She had her wand and could very easily just summon her Nimbus 2000 as go inside to get it. That was her main reason for asking Lucinda which she preferred to do. Pushing herself up from the ground, Kat dusted the grass and dirt off of her pants and shirt before straightening things out so that she was at least presentable.
The truth was that flying was one of her favourite things to do as well. Ever since she knew how to fly, she'd loved it. Smiling brightly she added, "Flying's one of my absolutely favourite past times as well. I always used to beg my father to take me out for a fly before I was allowed to do it on my own. Now that I can, I adore it."

Lucinda smiled brightly and said, "I'll summon it." She waved her wand and summoned her Firebolt and said, "If you want you can ride on my firebolt. I won't mind As much as I love it, I hate having to have the best of the best." She laughed alittle and said, "I wish I was from a normal family."

As Lucinda summoned her broom, Katherine did the same. It took only a few moments for the Nimbus to come racing out of the front doors to the castle and directly into Kat's free left hand. Summoning charms were very useful for if you needed to get something you'd forgotten. Tucking her wand away safely, Katherine gave her broom a quick look over to make sure nothing had happened to it on its way out of the school.
"Oh, no worries. I don't mind flying around on my Nimbus. I'm a fair flier so I'll try to keep up with you and your Firebolt," she said cheerfully. Katherine did sympathize with her friend about wishing to be from a normal family. Then again, Kat doubted there really was such a thing as normal. Rather than say that, she instead offered, "If you can get permission from your mum and dad, you could always come stay with me over the next holiday. I'm sure it'll be a right change from what you're used to..."
As she spoke, Katherine threw her right leg over the broom and then kicked off gently. As the broom started to rise and hover, she smiled even more. It didn't take much to make Katherine Finnigan happy. Something so simple as flying could put her in the best of moods. She really was very easy to please.

"I doubt my parents would allow it." Lucinda said as she got onto her broom and kicked off from the ground. She tied her hair back and said, "Ready?" she looked at Kat and waited for a reply. She didn't want to just fly off unless her friend was ready.

Katherine was ready and willing to go whenever Lucinda was. As she hovered a moment or two, she shot a quick glance toward the castle to see a few people slowly wandering out onto the grounds. It didn't really matter who came out now though. She nodded in understanding as far as the Slytherin girl's parents not allowing her to stay over holiday. That was to be expected.
"I'm all ready when you are," said Kat, starting off slow so that they could keep the same speed and neither would be left behind. She'd keep at this pace until she was sure Lucinda was ready to start flying even faster. Glancing over her shoulder, she asked, "Anywhere specific you want to go?"

"Nope." Lucinda said and took off and said, "Better keep up!" She laughed and went ahead but not at full speed. After a few moments she slowed down and waited for Kat. She smiled and crossed her arms.

Katherine didn't need Lucinda to slow down for her. The Firebolt might have been a better quality broom and capable of higher speeds but Kat was a good flier. Leaning down against her broom, she raced to keep up with the Slytherin girl. It wasn't exactly the most difficult task in the world considering she was a regular on a broom.
"I'm keeping up just fine," Kat called to her friend, continuing at the same speed as she headed toward the castle. She really liked to fly around and through the towers so that was her intent since Lucinda didn't have any preference as to where they should fly.

Lucinda nodded and sped off again. She flew towards the north tower and turned and headed back towards the lake. Her toes skimmed the water and she headed back for the sky in a spiral like motion. She took off for the trees before turning back and heading to the castle towers.

Kat zipped up and around each one of the towers with a happy grin up on her face. She adored the way the wind rushed through her hair and beat against her skin as she soared through the sky. It was amazing. She actually felt so free and careless while in the open air on her broom. As she sped through and around each of the towers, Kat took a quick look to see where Lucinda was.
She was half paying attention to where she was going and half to where her Slytherin friend was flying. Katherine didn't like the idea of flying over the deeper parts of the lake but she didn't mind the forest so much. Once she noticed that Lucinda was closer again, she gestured toward the pitch and then flew off toward it at a rather rapid pace.

Lucinda followed her. They were neck and neck. She headed towards the hoops and flew through one of them. She smiled and landed and said, "That was fun."
