Katherine could hear Lucinda sitting up so she opened her eyes and did the same. When she looked up into the sky, she'd noticed just how much the weather had changed since only a few moments ago. Oddly enough, she rather fancied storms but that was just a person issue she'd always had.
"Yeah, going inside might be a decent idea," Kat agreed, pushing herself up from the ground and dusting off. She walked slowly over to grab her broom so that Lucinda would have time to get up as well.

Lucinda stood and grabbed her broom from the ground and said, "Race you to the entrance door?" She mounted her broom and said, "I'll go slower than full speed to give you a fair race. Even though its the flyer who counts not the brooms speed." She laughed and kicked off the ground and waited for her friend to do the same. Aftwe a few moments she put her hair back into a poneytail.

Hearing the suggested race, Katherine nodded and mounted her broom. She kicked off gently so that she would hover just above the ground but she hadn't taken off just yet. Kat was all about it being playing fair. After all, she was a loyal and fair Hufflepuff. Rising up a little higher, she waited until Lucinda was ready and then nodded.
"No worries about going slower," chirped Kat, not wanting someone to play easy on her just because of her broom. She was just like that. She wanted a fair competition...regardless of broom type.

"Ok well. Ready.... Set.... GO!" Lucinda said and took off. She leaned flat against her broom and sped off towards the castle. Her blonde hair was slicked back by the wind. She felt the rain hitting her face as she sped across the ground. The rain wasn't heavy nor light. but every few moments the rain would sting like needles against her face. She continued to go towards the entrance and finally reached it and almost hit the door boy slowed down just in time

Katherine Finnigan loved storms almost as much as she adored flying but not quite. Leaning down against her broom, mostly to make herself less wind resistant, she held onto it tightly and sped up. The wind and rain didn't phase her in the slightest, only because she rather enjoyed a good rain...and it wasn't raining hard enough anyway. With her eyes locked on the target, Katherine didn't even bother to see where Lucinda was. Instead, her eyes remained on the castle steps.
She was getting closer. So close to that destination that she could almost feel it. From what she could tell, it the rain had picked up a little. It wasn't nearly as hard as she could have wanted it to be but if she'd stayed out long enough, she could wind up a little soaked...not quite drenched though. Metres turned into a few mere feet...and inches...centimetres. Just as her broom neared the steps, she pulled up on the end and slowed herself so that she hit the solid surface running.

"Booga Booga!" Lucinda yelled jumping at Katherine as she hid at the last minute. She started laughing and began ringing her hair out out. The rain started pouring down and she said, "We got inside just on time lets go to the kitchens and grab something to eat or drink. I'm thirsty and slightly hungry." She made her broom go back to her dorm and began skipping off towards the kitchens. She hummed as she went.

Rather than being scared, Katherine burst out into laughter. She shook her head to get some of the rain out of her eyes as she held her broom out. If anything, she was far more worried about any rain damage to her broom than getting herself drenched by being out in the weather. She, of course, would have to tend to the broom soon enough.
"Yeah, something to eat does sound good. It seems like ages since I had breakfast," Kat giggled softly, "I'll drop my broom off when we get down there...since the kitchen is right by my common room anyway."

"Alright. I need a small snack and something to drink." She said with a small yawn. She laughed alittle and said, "I can't believe the rain rolled in that fast. It was like no rain and then, BAM! There was rain. I bet I fall asleep soon. I always get sleepy when it rains. Which is always a good and bad thing. Good as long as I am not in class." She said with a small laugh.

"I absolutely love the rain and storms. I don't know what it is really but they're just so...oh, I don't know. I just love them. I have ever since I was really little," Katherine admitted as she headed down the stairs toward the cellar area. The kitchens were just down the corridor from the Hufflepuff common room so it would give her plenty of time to put it away her broom. As it was, she liked to take care of her things and ensure that they were still of use later.
Jogging down the stairs, she checked over her shoulder to see if Lucinda was still keeping up. Though she was preoccupied with her thoughts, she didn't want to accidently loose her friend along the way. Just as her feet hit the solid floor at the bottom of the staircase, Kat said, "I'll go put this away really quick and meet you in the kitchen, alright?"

"Alrighty. I'll meet you infront of the fruit bowl picture." Lucinda said and skipped off down the corridor and to the picture. She reached the picture and leaned against the wall. She would wait for Kat before she tickled the pair to enter. She tapped her foot and hummed a song she had stuck in her head. After a few moments she sighed and began watching the inhabitats of other pictures go to neighboring frames.

Nodding to signify that she agreed to meet Lucinda in front of the portrait of the giant bowl of fruit, she waved a bit and then hurried off down the corridor toward her common room. It wasn't too very far from the kitchen so she made it to the entrance in no time. Very quietly, she mumbled the password and entered. Practically running up to the girls' dorm, she grabbed a cloth and wiped some of the water droplets off of her broom and then tucked it in its case.
Katherine headed back out to the kitchen almost immediately. On her way, one of her fellow housemates tried to stop her to ask some question or another but she didn't want to be rude by leaving Lucinda waiting too long. As such, she told them to ask her a little later as she hurried out the door and down the corridor. Finally arriving at the painting, she said, "Sorry for making you wait so long."

"It's ok." Lucinda said and tickled the pair and stepped inside the now revealed door way. She walked through the house elves and grabbed a butter beer and gave one to Kat and grabbed a small bowl of pudding. She sat on the floor against the wall and began eating her pudding and sipping her butterbeer. She sighed and said, "Ah food." She laughed a little and said, "I did not eat breakfast and regret it."

Katherine smiled warmly and entered the kitchen along with her Slytherin friend. She was actually quite glad that Lucinda wasn't upset with her for making the poor girl wait around so long. It was actually a very nice change from how a lot of people were when made to wait. Nonetheless, she wandered it behind the other girl and graciously accepted the butterbeer offered to her.
"I had a light breakfast but I've been outside since...oh, probably around six or seven this morning," Katherine said with a smile, hoisting herself up onto a counter and letting her feet hang off the side. She hesitantly asked one of the eager house elves if she could have a piece of toast with jam on it only to find that her request was filled before she could really even get all the words out.

"The house elves are nice. I come down here alot." Lucinda said. She finished eating her small bowl of pudding and downed her drink. She charmed her bowl clean and placed it on the shelf. She sat down on the floor and began chewing on a carrot. She looked at it and said, "I'm worse than a bloody rabbit when it comes to me and carrots. I swear I have a carrot addiction." She laughed.

Katherine nodded in complete agreement. The house elves really were delightful little creatures and she couldn't see how anyone would want to willing abuse or enslave them. Kat was at least glad that the school would employ them and actually pay the ones that wanted wages. It still wasn't completely fair but, then, most of them didn't want wages or medical benefits. If all they really wanted was a place to stay and a job, then that was what they wanted and what they got.
"Carrots are lovely...but I'm honestly not the biggest fanatic of them. And, I'll admit, you're the first person whom I've ever met that has an addiction to them," Katherine giggled softly, shaking her head in amusement. It was just one of those things that made Lucinda even more unique.
