As a ruffled Lucinda emerged from the crowd, Kat looked quite shocked to see the condition of her friend. She even gasped when Luce said that she'd been pushed into it and acquired an injury from it. The Ravenclaw seemed even more interested in it and in Lucinda after she'd given details of the scuffle. Katherine, on the other hand, was far more worried about whether anyone had been hurt and who all was involved. Perhaps it was just part of her Hufflepuff Head Girl instinct or maybe it was just the fact that she wasn't too keen on fights. Either way, she couldn't help wondering.
"Oye! A good fight?! Fights aren't a good thing Lucinda," she said, shaking her head and sighing, "And I don't fancy trying to push through this bloody crowd to get pushed into it either." Just as the words left her mouth, the Ravenclaw boy who they'd talked to was already working his way toward the front to see what was going on. To this, Kat merely shook her head in disappointment.

"He's a guy, All guys don't have brains. Part of their hormones and nodily functions." Lucinda said with a smirk, "Seriously though its pretty fiesty up there. No curses just fist and feet and a bunch of rolling around." She shrugged and rubbed the side of her face where she had been punched when pushed into the fight. She shrugged again and tapped her wand on her face and smiled.

"Oye! If I don't know that from experience," Kat agreed with a nod. As far as she was concerned, boys were just a bunch of bloody brainless, spineless gits. Well, there were two or thre exceptions like Blair, Coop and Lauri...but all the rest were a lot of right bloody prats. In fact, just thinking about how much so many boys annoyed her was enough to make Katherine scowl bitterly and softly mutter, "Lot of useless gits."
Thinking a moment on it, Kat pondered whether or not she should put a halt to the whole thing. Being the Head Girl, it sort of was her responsibility to try to bring order to the situation...but to sort out a fight with the whole entire student population out there was something more than required. Instead, she opted to watch the crowd to ensure that no further bickering or fighting started. Once or twice, even, she scolded a few students who had begun to push and chant. "Bloody good fight my arse," she huffed under her breath

"Send out a few shocking charms and shock the crowd and then I can help ya break up the fight." Lucinda said thoughtfully. "Its better than having a dead body on the ground to explain why we didn't do anything I mean we are probably the most sensible in this location right about now. PLUS Maybe it'll get some guys looking at you. You don't know how determined I am to find you a date for the ball. Don't be mad or take it the wrong way I just think it'd be a good experience for you. And then you won't feel loneley at the ball.... I KNOW! Kit Kat ask my brother! Yeah I said scorpius is a git and all and he does listen to my mum and dads mumbo jumbo but he's really sweet and caring when it comes down to it. He's a real softy."

Thinking about it a moment, Katherine decided against shocking charms but had no issues with sending up a few very bright sparks. It was the equivelent to a couple of close fireworks but it did a half way decent job of distracting at least half the crowd. For a Hufflepuff, Kat sure knew how to yell. She was, after all, a Quidditch captain and she hung out with all of her male cousins. "THE WHOLE BLOODY LOT OF YOU! IN THE CASTLE NOW! UNLESS YOU WANT THREE WEEKS DETENTION SCRUBBING TOILETS WITH A TOOTHBRUSH!!" she belted out, eyeing anyone who dared to quesiton her authority as the Hogwarts Head Girl. As much as Kat hated to be bossy and pushy, she knew what her job was and did it the best she possibly could.
With a majority of the students scurrying off toward the castle, some muttering foul names under their breath, Katherine turned to look at Lucinda and reply, "I have to go with Potter. Can't bloody believe it. Just found out the other day that the head girl has to go with the head boy...no choice. I'd have asked someone else...but yeah. Stuck. Probably wont even bloody go though." Kat frowned and then shook off the whole thought of the dance. She was honestly bitter toward herself for anything and everything she probably could have been. Shaking her head, she went on, "Even so, I sincerely doubt your softy brother would be caught dead anywhere near a bloody Hufflepuff. I wouldn't be surprised if he was the one who hexed me the other day." Giving a half sort of laugh, she went back to glaring at students who remained on the grounds.

"Oh for crying out loud screw what the heads say ask someone out. If my brother hexed you I'd kick his ass. Come on you have to go Kat. It won't be the same without you. I'm not going to dance the whole nigh so I'll need a girl to talk to and Evi isn't enough. I need you there too. If I have to tie you and my brother together and take you down myself I will." Lucinda said with a smirk

"Luce, it's a bloody rule that I have to go with Potter. I mean, I'd have asked one of my guy friends to go...since I've already gone through the hell of getting a dress for the thing," admitted Katherine with a sigh as the last few students started to head inside. She'd actually fancied James Potter and wouldn't have minded going with him if it weren't for the fact that he'd gotten her hopes up and then had the nerve to ask her out for his friend. His bloody friend! Groaning to herself, Kat found that she was bitter all over again. Oh how she hated to remember that day!
Letting out a soft laugh, she shook her head yet again. For some reason, she felt sort of like she wanted to cry but she refused to let this show. She would just have to let it all out later when she was locked away in the Hufflepuff girls' dorm alone. "I don't think I've ever even said a single word to your brother in my entire life and I'm sure he probably likes it that way. Seriously, he just doesn't seem at all like you and Rosalynn...so I bet he just absolutely would loath the idea of being stuck anywhere near me at all...EVER."

"Please don't tell me your a rule freak! Also Rosalynn my murder you at the dance I think she has a thing for Potter." Lucinda said with a shrug. She flipped her hair and said, "But go ahead and go with Potter. Just watch out for his ego also can I dump the punch bowl on your dates head or change his Tux Pink?" she asked with a bright smile.

Kat sighed and looked down at her feet with a frown. She hated thinking about how well things were going between her and James but then how stupid she'd been for thinking that things were going well. She couldn't believe that she'd actually let Evie lead her to believe that there was ever a chance that Potter would fancy her. Frowning even more, she sighed, "How about we not talk about Potter. I'm starting to feel sick to my stomach." It wasn't entirely untrue. The constant reminder of what was not only made her feel worse and worse by the second.
"And, no, I'm not exactly a rule freak but the only way to get out of this damned thing is to not even go to the dance at all," said Katherine with sure nod, "Not like it'll be a major loss if I don't show anyway." She shrugged and looked down at her feet again. The mere notion of getting all dressy in some ruddy girly outfit to dance with the boy who'd lead her on and then be stuck in a stuffy ballroom full of people all night was enough to nearly make Kat gag.

"Alright." Lucinda said know Kat didn't like the subject. Well how about we go out to Hogsmeade and we go get something to eat and find something to do. Maybe floo to diagon alley and go pig out at Florean Fortescues!" Lucinda suggested knowing she craved ice cream at least well everyday. She was a sweet freak and loved junkfood it never cease to amaze he that she never gained a pound.

Oddly enough, the mention of ice cream actually sounded perfect to Katherine. Perhaps it was because she was feeling a bit depressed and the idea of sweets, and tonnes of them, would fix her problem. Of course, she'd probably wind up over working herself the next day to burn off the calories and extra weight she was sure to put on. If not, her mum would gladly remind her about the necessity to keep a girlish figure. Making an inaudible sound, she frowned but nodded all the same.
"Hogsmeade it is...and ice cream sounds lovely!" agreed the Hufflepuff girl. This, in itself, would prove that she wasn't some rule freak tho wouldn't do anything to break a rule. There were still classes to attend and it wasn't a Hogsmeade weekend so, techincally, it was against the rules to leave...but Kat honestly didn't care. The further away from the school for now, the better!

"Alright. Lets go! screw school and teachers lets go have some quality time with some good junk food." Lucinda said smiling and heading across the grounds to the whompping willow. What better way to get out than through a dangerous secret passage way. Easy to cross through the shrieaking shack and then to hogsmeade and from there diagon alley. She loved roaming and burning time. It always was more effective to her brain then school work.

"Quality time with junk food," repeated Kat with a grin, "Brilliant idea." Eagerly following Lucinda, Katherine started to contemplate all the sorts of sweets she could get at Honeydukes and the various flavours of ice cream that Florean Fortescue's served. Her mum would practically murder her for even thinking about loading up on junk foods but it wasn't like she could do much else. Besides, sweets and treats always worked to make one feel much better.
A look of apprehension found its way to Kat's face as she noted how close they were to the whomping willow. She'd only once had an experience with the tree and it resulted in her running faster than she ever remembered running in her entire life. Of course, she was only about thirteen or fourteen back then but it was still horrifying. Tapping Lucinda's shoulder, she asked, "Um...why are we headed for that tree?"

There's a secret passage below the roots that lead to the shrieking shack." She said and shot a spell at the tree and said, "its safe. come on." She walked forward and headed towardsa hole in the roots, "Easiest and safest way into hogsmeade and then we can floo from the three broomsticks to diagon alley. Easy as pie. Its a sure way to get through without being caught."

It was scary enough that they were getting closer to the tree but the notion of possibly getting caught and then being maimed by a bloody tree wasn't what Kat had intended for the rest of her day. Luckily, Lucinda's words were enough to reassure Kat that she'd be fine going through a tunnel under the tree. Hesitantly and with her eyes constantly checking to make sure she wasn't going to get smashed, Katherine followed along behind her friend. Exactly opposite of what she'd been expecting, the tree remained motionless as the two approached.
"Bloody hell! How'd you know how to make it freeze and then about the hidden tunnel?" interrogated Katherine in both awe and complete shock. As she descended into the tunnel, she looked around curiously at the surroundings. It was amazing that she'd been at the school for over six years and hadn't ever been in this tunnel or known about it, for that matter.
